I like gameplay, but I also need story too.

The game I am playing right now (The Force Unleashed) has awsome graphics and a good basis for a story, but its not very long or deep. I wanted to have a lot of levels and visit a ton of planets, and be able to use the awsome Force powers that I had at my disposal. But I also wanted to be able to explore further this character and the others, and how they affected galactic events.

I like good story that is incorporated into the play, but to just sit and watch long scenes like a TV show or a movie, no thanks, I want to PLAY not watch. It's why I play video games. Mashing the "next" button does not constitute interaction, and I really hate it when they won't let you skip scenes.

My favorites currently are Fallout 3, Oblivion, and Dynasty Warriors 6.

I hate games that have voice acting and text at the same time, but don't let you disable one or the other...especially games where only some things are voice acted, so I have to ignore it while I'm reading.

yea there are a lot of old school games I like. I actually think that it is more that the art making games is more about the fact they have to make this BIG complex gaming engine and have very little time to make a story line or it is hard to plan the interactions of the game on the concept of multiple outcome arcs and stuff that the gamers of today are expecting.

I think that the best story video games for a long time are FF3(america rls. naming) crono trigger, and ff7 these are some of the best story line games. there are more but I cant think of um now.

The other problem I find is that the truly great games nowadays that rely on good integration of multioutcome/story rarely have a good sequal's. if you look at a game like neverwinter nights. neverwinter 2 is just addition of voice acting and somewhat better graphics
with admittedly some more useful prestige classes and enchanting, there is just a lesser sense of ambiance than the first and the cut seens seem duller, and I feel that censor pressure groups got to certain aspects of the game design chill. admittedly obsidian sued bio ware for the right's to the neverwinter license and was the squeals production house. and the cost of making games is skyrocketing just as the programming gets more complicated.

I like video games, lately I have bought Halo Wars, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, Overlord and Resident Evil 5, but I have been so busy with university I havent had much time to play. Except for I also got Twilight Princess for the Wii, that I also love, I kind of have spend a bit too much time playing that when I should be doing somthing else, but playing that has been turning me back to my fine memories of on the N64. Though I think I must have gotten better I have basicaly done the water temple without getting too frustrated, now I need to beat the beast that has been conviniently locked in the boss room, with with the clawshot and boss key that were acquired through puzels that would be expected to deteriat from time and water damage. I started on the NES then SNES, but didn't care much for quality till the N64, and back then I prefered easy games, I guess then going through PS, PS2, Xbox a bit of GC and now 360 and Wii my favirout part is gameplay, for example favirout feeling was doing things like nocking brutes off choppers in Halo3. I have played online and find it quite fun, I mostly only play Halo 3 live, nothing like doing some good feats in a team game of players not as high as you and them treating you like some hero. But on the other hand I do like some cutscenes in games, like Mass Effect and GOW/GOW2 had some nice cutscenes.

Although I don't play video games as much as I once did, I still enjoy them. I like RPGs, action/adventure games, fighting and pretty much any good quality games.
