I always liked "Galaga" much more than "Space Invaders".

The first game I ever owned was a Pong clone. It was on a console with a few games built in which were Pong variants (football, squash). It also had a light gun. I didn't care for it much.

Then one day I was out in Croydon with a few friends and we came across an Atari VCS with Asteroids on demo. We monopolised the machine for what seemed like hours. That was it. I was smitten. I pestered my parents to buy me a VCS for Christmas. It came with Combat which wasn't much fun for an only child but I also got Asteroids and Space Invaders.

I've been playing pretty much ever since, with just a brief break during the ZX Spectrum/Commodore 64/Master System/NES years when I was at University.

As a small child I remember my parents having Pong on what was like a game console from Sears, I think, that we sometimes played. Pong and different variations of it like hockey weren't on a cartridge, they were installed into the console and that was all it could play. Yeah I'm old.

First console was a second hand Commodore 64 that barely worked, because my parents mistaken that for the Nintendo 64, I eventually got R-Type and Ghostbusters on that thing to work once as well as a few others. I was about 6 at the time and lost interest with it.

I did get a N64 eventually with Goldeneye, FIFA 64, Extreme-G, Top Gear Overdrive and 1080 Snowboarding. Goldeneye 007 being my first game I've played on it.

Gwydion - first I've played is PD's old GBA and Advance Wars 2, oh heck so hard, more clueless in how to properly play than anything :)

Oh yeah, most of the best 2600 games you couldn't really play by yourself. I love the 2600, but a little more AI certainly could've made it age a bit more gracefully.

Especially nowadays when Atari tries to make compilation releases for newer consoles...no Activision titles + no multiplayer games + no licensed arcade ports = very little fun left.

Crickey, that's going back a bit. It was probably Jet Pac on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum.

Man that brings back memories of a late night Donkey Kong 64 session with a friend who was staying over. Literally just played Jet Pac for like 3 hours straight....

My first was Cars for the PS2, and it was awesome. It was like a mission game with racing game controls. And its sequels were good too. The Cars 2 game felt too different to be in the same league [It's a 100% racing game]. THQ then went bankrupt... then the Disney Infinity Cars playset was released. The playsets already felt like the THQ PS2 Cars games without cars, so a Cars one was essentially Disney Interactive tribute to THQ's grand monuments of games. Now, if only they released a combo of all of the games...

Super Mario World on the SNES though it was shared between me and my brother. The first game that was actually mine completely was the Gameboy Color, can't remember the exact game.

It was one of those early stage handheld games with like, two buttons for controlling movement.
It involved repeatedly going over a bridge, grabbing apples, then avoiding crocodiles in order to get back over the bridge and hurl the apples into a hut which had the window open.
:-D Man, that game sucked really.
