http://smashboards.com/threads/patch-1- ... er.436930/

It's official, the patch 1.1.6 which launched last night for most of the world, pounded Bayonetta into the ground with the nerf hammer.

She is the only character effected by this patch.

Sakurai took all those who complained about Bayonetta play style to heart, leading to this nerf.

Screw those who hated her play style, claiming she was over powered.

Eh, there's always those that will say a character is overpowered in a fighting game.

SOMETIMES they're right, generally if a character has some sort of infinite combo, or if they're like Metaknight where they're just freakishly easy to win with (well, how he was in Brawl anyway). But alot of the time I think it's just them arguing endlessly about the "meta" for the game. You know, all the tiers and such.

Though it does suck when nerfs happen as a result of that sort of thing. But at the same time, at least the devs for some of these games LISTEN to their audience.

Either way, they'll probably decide someone else is OP next.

Bah, I really should fire this up again myself at some point here. Maybe I'll be less burned out on it now. But finding the controller and that blasted bar thing... that'll be an adventure.

EDIT: As for what I'm playing, right now, Enter the Gungeon (PC version). I hated the game at first, but someone I know convinced me to keep going with it anyway, pointing out that the same thing happened with one of my favorite games of all time (Baroque), so I did so, it's quite grown on me. Still definitely has it's issues, and screw that damn door boss, but it's a good time usually. It got a heck of alot better once they fixed a really nasty bug that was breaking the balance of the game quite a bit.

currently emulating zero mission and loving it.

12 years later and there still has not been another "traditional" 2D metroid. how unfortunate.

I finished 'I Am Alive', I got it free off the PSN. I enjoyed the atmosphere and setting of the game, the gameplay wasn't too bad, it made you think sometimes to solve certain problems. The story was kind of meh and the ending was terrible and abrupt but I guess the game was only really half completed. Too bad.

At least we have lots of other "MetroidVanias" to fill the gaps. Fusion and Zero Mission were fun, but not quite as good as the original trilogy. They're a little bit better if you install the NoMap hacks.

Playing Resident Evil 6 on PS4. It surprisingly has more depth than I realized.

People hated on this game for focusing on action instead of horror.
But I think they overlook how cool the combat is, and the dynamics between the characters.
The skill system is pretty awesome too, allowing you to customize your characters play style.

It's certainly well worth your money for all the content it has.

Mine is probably Metroid II: Return of Samus.

Funny thing about Metroid 2 is that it's probably the most linear of all of the Metroid games, but alot of players still get lost.

It's definitely one of the harder games in the series though.

Agh, I miss the 2D Metroid games. Never quite forgave them for the switch to Prime and such....

I like Metroid Fusion a lot more than Metroid 2.

Whereas Metroid 2 focused on exploration, Fusion has you being hunted by a superior enemy.

It's exploration from fear, and I love it.

This video does a good job explaining it :

^^I gave up once I reached the wrestling Spider Monster.
I'm playing Rune Factory 4, and my character is dating three girls at once. I can't choose!

I'm getting back into Don't Starve. After watching a few videos I'm doing much better than I was before.

If it makes you feel any better the 3D Metroid games bombed just as bad as their 2D counterparts.
Though Metroid Prime 1 is tied with Metroid (NES) for the best selling game in the series at ~4 Million
Metroid Prime 3 is the only other Metroid game to sell 2 Million globally.

Metroid II, Super Metroid, Metroid: Other M and Metroid Fusion struggled to hit 1 million Globally.
Metroid Prime 2 barely sold 500k globally, cause the original release was really hard to beat (though I did beat it).

This is why Nintendo is very reluctant to make Metroid games.

With that said the Prime Trilogy are some of the best made 3D games ever.
