I just finished Chrono Trigger for the first time ever. I'm trying to catch up on some retro JRPGs that I'm told I should care about.

Review of Chrono Trigger... the gameplay was honestly pretty boring. I appreciated the combo system, but the combat quickly boiled down to a few types of moves to beat every fight. Ultimately it felt like a dungeon crawl without depth.

I think that most people remember the game fondly because of the time travel. If I played this game as a kid, I'd probably think it was the coolest thing ever, so I can totally understand the appeal. What I would have appreciated is more ambition with the overall plot, and more of a connection between the time periods, plot-wise

(also! I still don't understand how the whole thing with Magus worked, his motivations and actions barely make sense to me)

Next I'm gonna play Dragon Quest 5, which I'm told is one of the best ones...

Playing Fallout 4 VR again. I had forgotten it's pretty much required to install a bunch of mods to Bethesda games to get the most out of their games. So after installing various mods I am having a lot more fun with this game. The mods I've installed change the game in these ways:

-makes nights a hell of a lot darker so you can barely see
-change the Pipboy light to a flashlight
-make sights on handmade guns actually usable; I have no idea why this is not in the vanilla game. In VR if you try to use reflex sights on guns to aim, you'll find they're simply cosmetic and completely non functional. In fact they're more of a hindrance because they just obscure your target.
-make guns shoot straight; this does make some perks useless but it's really frustrating to go to all the trouble of aiming and watch your bullet fly out of the barrel of your gun at some weird angle and completely miss
-3D audio; not sure why the default audio in every Bethesda game is so awful but this fixes it entirely. Got sick of every sound effect sounding like it was happening right in my ear.

Picked up a handful of random Steam games on a whim:

Half Dead: Horror co-op I haven't seen before.

Nekojishi: Taiwanese furry visual novel. Unusual enough I had to try it out.

Kami: Origami folding game. First thing I've seen like it, and I used to love puzzle games.

I was doing some March Madness on the Sega Genesis, checking out as many different basketball games as I could  Obviously, the NBA Jam games are still tops, but some of the more simulation-based games aren't too bad...not -quite- as good as 2K, though...but I didn't feel like hooking up my Dreamcast.

I'm not into sports, and I'm not very good at most sports games either, but I think I was starting to get the hang of NBA Live 95. I was catching up after the first half, and tied the game at the second half. Went into overtime, and we lost by 2 points...I didn't even get a wild throw before the buzzer, I fumbled the ball >_<

Sorry, Bulls :(

I'm probably going to start Dead Space (again) today. I really enjoy the game, but I have to be in the right mood to handle the ridiculous amount of gore. Given the subject matter, I understand that it's not going to be pleasant, but is it really necessary to stomp on corpses and send bits flying everywhere to loot them, or for every single death except suffocation to involve limbs being ripped off and blood spurting?

Been digging into Warframe, and I have to say, color my impressed so far. I've never been a fan of games that go the F2P route, but this one definitely seems to have it's hooks in me right now.

I still haven't played that game, just the Wii spinoff for a short bit.

They say it was originally going to be a sequel to System Shock 2. I'm kind of glad they changed their mind.

Bought a bunch of Wii/WiiU games as late birthday presents, I was playing Lego City Undercover for a bit this morning. It's pretty good, but the load times are insane, and I think my disc is defective. The story really screams "remember when this happened in the 3DS game?" so I think I'll beat that one first.

Maybe tonight I'll play Captain Toad or Star Fox Zero. Or Wind Waker HD.

...or a different console =)

I'm weirdly addicted to Enter the Gungeon.
I was never a big fan of roguelikes, but I just bought this one on Nintendo Switch and right now it's all that I'm playing.
I die a lot though, but it's extremely fun.

I'm playing Ni No Kuni 2 at the moment, and as someone who played the first game I have to say I'm kinda disappointed by how much they scaled down the combat difficulty this time round. :?

Sims 4. It's been awhile.

I'd forgotten how randomly hilarious this series could be. Simple family, 2 parents and a toddler. Toddler wants to play with toys, okay, sure. The mother goes to play with her. But she the childish trait, so this ends up consisting of sitting in a different area and just playing with a random toy on her own while making "whoosh" noises. This random neighbor just comes out of nowhere, walks into the kid's room, and watches her while going "YEAH!! ! Woo!! ! HAH hahaha". A random old lady reads a book in the kid's chair during this.
