If you'd like me to post the leveling trick I used, I'll gladly do so.
Nah. It wasn't the difficulty of Portrait of Ruin that bothered me, I'm not sure what it was. I think Circle of the Moon is the only game in the series where I really had to grind to get through it. I think I liked that game more than the ones that Iga produced... ¬_¬
Then again, I also really liked Simon's Quest and Castlevania 64...

I was playing Boodstained: Curse of the Moon on the 3DS the other day. It's pretty good, but there's definitely some challenge there, and I kind of wish I could play it on a TV. (plus, I have to change the controls, because my B button is about dead)

Ironically, Dawn of Sorrow was my first Castlevania game. I still like it, despite that.
Mine was the very first game, on the NES. I can't remember if we rented it, or if Dad borrowed it from a friend.
I know I played Dawn before I played Aria, having borrowed it from a friend. I didn't like it that much, but I did at least finish the whole thing, unlocking most or all of the souls.

I got Aria with Harmony of Dissonance on one cartridge, but I gave up on the latter very quickly.

I liked Harmony a lot, but I thought they made it a little too similar to SotN (in a negative way), and they went a little overboard when they brightened up the color palettes. A lot of reviews for CotM said it was too dark, and I feel like they overcompensated on HoD.
