I'm just getting into some theme teams myself, in which I hope to stun and infuriate my foes with unconventional couplings from Pokemon across the board (but no ubers...)

Montgomery Burns Mansion Defense Team:

FIRST THE BEES

Beedrill: Toxic Spiker. 'Nuff Said

Vespiquen: Wall of annoyance, in preparation for torment to come...

THEN THE HOUNDS

Granbull: STAB Giga Impact and three other fun surprises rarely seen...

Houndoom: Will-o-Wisp and special sweeper.

Mightyena: Fun with Me First and other biting, crunching, sucker-punching shenanigans.

THEN... THE ROBOTIC RICHARD SIMMONS

Mr. Mime, pure wall with a Teeter Dance twist. This final pokemon has some special tricks.

I'm pretty sure this team would get steamrolled by a more balanced set with better base stats, but I'm not making this for glory. I'm making this because it's fun.

Other teams in my head include the Dysfunctional Care Bears, 6 Ursarings with separate movesets (feel the icy punches of BLIZZARD BEAR! Suffer the nightmarish wailing of POSESSION BEAR! Take a double-damage counterattack from JUDO BEAR!) and a team of Baton Passers, who use baton pass to stack stats and summon one supreme warrior, Captain Planet style.

By the way, Dark Red Beloved got me into Pokemon (at the age of 24 years old, no kidding) and now I'm eagerly awaiting Heart Gold/Soul Silver like a shrieking 9 year old at a Hannah Montana concert.

So yesterday, I realized I love my stats class. Why? I now know how to calculate the exact chance a move will hit/miss in any combination over any number of turns. Pretty useless, since I don't do competitive battling, but pretty awesome anyways. :D

Skittles, good for you for just making fun teams. I couldn't have fun unless my teams were doing good as well.

Just pointing out, though, Vespiquen may have good stats for a wall, but she has a double weakness to stealth rock. Much, much tougher to wall things when you lose half your health just switching in.

Also, what's everyone's proudest Pokemon moment? Mine would definitely be throwing together what was actually a really good stall team just from Pokemon Stadium rental Pokemon and beating my friend's team "centered" around Mewtwo (a.k.a. a team with Mewtwo on it with no real other thought put to it) without losing a single Pokemon. He had been bragging about how it was unbeatable (and so far, he had beaten four people in a row with it).

If Stealth Rock is really that popular, Vespiquen can go in first.

Depends on who I play against though. I wouldn't think that everyone on the planet immediately leads with Stealth Rock.

Not everyone immediately leads with it, but the point of having a wall is having something that you can continually switch in and absorb hits. Vespiquen is very slow, so it's not going to be outspeeding many of the Pokemon you'd bring it in on. If it switches into stealth rock, it loses half its health even without taking a hit. Then, you get the hit it absorbs. If it does anything above 25% (not hard, even with a weak attack), it'll be hit twice and k.o.'d before it has a chance do anything at all.

I had my first ever Pokemon battle with a real person yesterday and was beaten to a pulp ^^;;
I need to work out a better team with some better moves if I am going to have a change in hell of beating this guy.

What was your team? Maybe we can help you get the kinks worked out.

I must admit... I trashed Giga Impact from my Granbull, replacing it with Facade instead, since he's wearing the toxic orb.

Giga Impact = fun, but Facade is much more reliable.

Yeah, Facade is a much, much better choice there. Since Grandbull is going to be poisoned, it's only 10 BP less and it doesn't have the recharge turn.

I bred him with Close Combat, but I might teach him Superpower from the move tutor instead, because dogs with superpowers are funny.

But so are punch-spamming bulldogs.

I'm torn. Any thoughts?

I would go with Superpower over Close Combat, just because Granbull's speed is already so low it's not going to mind the speed drop. It would mind the defense drops, though, for the same reason. It's not going to be outspeeding things, so it's going to be taking hits on lower and lower defenses.

Never mind, that was Hammer Arm I was thinking about. Go with Close Combat, definitely. Superpower hits less hard with every use since it lowers Attack and Defense with each use.

I suppose Close Combat would be the best. My favourite Pokemon are:
Milotic
Torterra
Magnezone

Ask me if you want a competitive battle. All I do is Lv50.
