To get what I want, let's face it, the system of sensors and controls would have to be more complex and sophisticated.

I believe you are referring to the Wii MotionPlus

Did I mention that I am almost criminally out of the loop? But I did have a point of view on the Wii controller. Now I have to go look up the thing you mentioned which I evidently already conceptualized but won't even so much as get for free for my trouble.

Upon looking it up, no, I do not mean the Motionplus. They're on the right track, but it's still not enough. A single front sensor is not enough to capture three dimensions of motion.

The "single front sensor" is only used for the pointer (like a glorified light gun, really). The gyroscope and the accelerometer are what pick up the motions.

Well, I'd have to try one, then... but I'm still skeptical. I take my shameless reality avoidance seriously. I'll cut 'em some slack, though. It's a new interface (as far as I know, anyway) and who knows what'll be around in 5 or 10 years.

The system works pretty well, as long as there is not too much excess IR light. The one major drawback is that most games the Wii has are not comapatable with the Wii motion plus sensor pod...they should either make a patch for the system that takes it into account or re-release the games with that functionality added.

Gamewise, I like the wii because it has a lot more family-oriented and shorter games. I love all those puzzle types, and just simple things. New Super Mario Bros is pretty cool! As for the controller, I'm not the best with it, probably because my coordination isn't always so great. I enjoy wii, but XBOX 360 will always be my favorite console.
