Looking for a certain type of computer rpg game
Well, I don't know what "more action based" is, I guess it's got as much action as anything else. The only thing different is you have what they call "door missions", where you go in the door & defeat whomever or get whatever.
What is Second Life all about? I keep hearing about it, it's a social thing but they have fantasy games, what are those games like?

I'm still crossing my fingers for the long-waited Blade & Soul.

Guild Wars 2 is taking alot from this game's concepts.

Second Life is hard to describe. It is a sandbox style game, as in you make your own fun. You can build stuff and what not. Some people make real money in the game. I haven't played it though so can't say much. Sandbox games are good if you like being creative, or like working with a group to make something grand and amazing. They are not good if you can't think of anything to do or would rather have an immediate goal to work towards.
More action based- the game is action oriented. Rather than say story based or ambience based (good horror games often rely on ambience). If you ever played Baldur's Gate that is a game with some action but heavily focuses on story too. The story drives the gameplay and gives meaning to your actions.
CoV is believe has you get missions, you blow enemies up, run around and do "stuff", rather than focusing on the "why" you would do that. Instead you do the missions because they are fun and there is a reward.

There's a game I bought on impulse for the 360. Called Magna Carta 2, it plays like an mmorpg with a 3rd person view action game character, with quests that feel like an mmorpg, but follows alongside a main-plot story. (and cut-scenes; and voice-acting)
Apparently the makers were a Korean game developer group; which I found rare and interesting.
Game is alright, won't be a greatest hit, but still worth playing through.

If you want to have fun interacting with people and tap your inner creative being. Try out Minecraft online, you join a server and start building blocks till you make a building, maze, or sculpture. All along you can text chat, or voice chat. But there is no pvp here or alignments.
*************
The best games for creating characters with alignments, action, and pvp, are table-top role-playing games. Not only do you get to create your character down to his stats; you get to make a back-story too. Also, no matter how well you wrote that back-story, your character will probably mature and change/develop within the game (if he/she doesn't die).
Cons?
[*] You are interacting with people.
[*] -You have to find those people (if your lucky there is a posting on craigslist; or in your local public library).
[*] --Other people are probably a lot more experienced in it. (pro too! If they are super nice people).
[*] ---Other people may not attend sometime delaying/postponing a game for a week. (usually a game is once a week).
Pros?
[*] You realize how much your imagination develops.
[*] You realize how close to epic stories you casual games are.
[*] People who write stories probably just recorded what happened in their RPG game. Not just dreamed them up!
[*] You interact with people.
[*] You can make your character towards any alignment you want. If the other people in the game chose another alignment for their character, you will need to make a back-story that will involve befriending their characters; otherwise you may have to fight them! (and the Game-master that is running the world your characters' world; may be ver yharsh; so you may need the other people's characters to survive!)
