hey any of you wanna make a game someday ?
You've seen where CCP is headed with EVE, right? With Incarna coming out this summer? They're well on their way to making it the most immersive, diverse MMO ever created.
But, on the subject of games and game development, I've got a few ideas that I think would hold up well as games, but I'm no one-man production team. I'd definitely need people backing me on it, as all I'm really good at is telling stories, not creating assets and doing the coding.

Location: in my own little tamarillo jungle,
im up for modelling and doing original textures,
i cant really do characters but items and architecture i can.
what platforms are there available for proper 3d games?
a mindmap with ideas could also be wonderfull
my primary goal would have to be a heavily customizable experience with lots of diversion, i am a big fan of the simplicity and diversity of the magic system in magicka for example(could be a lot better but still).
i also like features that overlap, crafting should be done with classes of items and not specifics, stats derived from that.

EVE has not done anything innovative since it launched. If you look at it objectively it is really nothing more than a classic RPG set in spaceship form. Their economic system, combat system, tech progression system, etc has been done in previous games (some not MMO's but it has been done). The Incarna concept for example, was done way back in 1998'ish in Battlecruiser 3000AD.
CCP does have an excellent team who is dedicated and loves their game but the game itself in my opinion is just a collage of what others have done before. I do give them kudos for the way they launch trailers and other video items..its truly amazing.
What I have in mind is a completely new approach to interface design, interactivity between players and the game world as well as a completely new application of combat and non-combat aspects of the game.
So, your saying it has to be original to be good? It's not enough that they can take an old concept and do it better than everyone else?

Im saying that EVE itself is not innovative. The pc game industry has stagnated since the late 90's. Remember how innovative the Wing Commander series was when it first came out? We dont see that kind of creative push anymore... the pc game companies are content with re-hashing old concepts, plugging in updated graphics and marketing it.
That is pretty much what CCP did with EVE. They did it very well there no denying it but in the end, for me, its not something that gives me a thrill to play.. the old case of 'been there, done that, got the t-shirt' feeling when you play something thats a prettier copy of a copy.
I would prefer a game that comes up with an original concept and implements it so that it is better than anything else out there.
I actually have a degree pertaining to developing games. The problem is actually finding a job out there that's actually hiring. I have many game ideas which I think people will enjoy.

I would love to make my own game. I just don't have the resources to do it.
One of my best ideas is to have a first person shooter but much more epic and strategic than what's on the market now. Imagine something like D-Day, some players in battleships attacking from long range, some in landing boats going onto the beach, and some providing air support. Meanwhile, the defending team would have powerful guns and defensive emplacements to try to hold the beach for as long as possible. It would be a combination of several game genres; commanders could give orders to troops in real time like an RTS, those of us who prefer to fly planes could do that in the large scale theatre of war, and of course the classic infantry and tank battles found in games like battlefield would be fought on the ground over strategic locations.
The only problem is that in order to have battles that big the graphics would have to be tuned down a bit, and nobody wants that. But it would be just like real war; total destruction on a large scale.

You should check out http://www.battlegroundeurope.com/ ... its almost what you say there .
Just focus on making your portfolio as impressive as possible. If you want I can link it to my friends (who are in the business) and get some feedback for you.
If you're not too picky on where you work, Raven Software has a really huge turnover

I had this one idea for a game. It would be like an educational RPG sort of... I sort of got the idea from playing RPGs, especially Golden Sun: Dark Dawn and how many RPG games have elemental attacks, like Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Ice, Lighting, Light, Darkness... stuff like that? What if... What if they were real elements... you know, like the periodic table?
I think the game will be about some sort of chemist who meets these little fairies that have control over one element and with their powers combined they make stuff and you have to "level them up" for them to make more atoms of an element and what not. I'm actually planning on majoring into analytical chemistry.
However, who would be the villain I wonder? I haven't really decided...
People just don't seem to understand my awesome idea though... They say it sounds kind of dumb... It would play like a good RPG would, but you learn things too!
Darklands was like that, though I don't remember to what extent it went.

I guess Don't Go Alone does it too, but I haven't played it long enough to find out.

Went to college for it. I've worked with the Unreal Engine, and a few others. the UDK is free by the way if you want to learn how to make a basic game with killer graphics.
Word of advice though. Never try to make a MMORPG, they take 100+ people 2-4 years to devolpe, maybie 1 year with 100 people if you already have the source code to a working one. I was trying to devolpe a online first person shooter with a friend. We had the weapon coding, and several weapons in, as well as the basic systems (sprint, reload, ammo types, inventory, etc). We had to stop because by the time it would of been released it would of been outdated. Best to stick with flash or a simple concept like a DOTA game that requires little graphics, and not to complex programing. Keep in mind of course that when i say "little" that means hundreds of hours just to make the pathing on the map to work. It took me more then a month to make a realistic gun, attach animations properly, normal map it, import it, bug test it and release it. It's not like a mod for a game, you gotta write all the rules yourself.

I have made a few games. I wrote three kinetic novels in Ren'Py in the Summer of 2009 I believe - Watashi wa Onigiri, A Day Off, and The Most Offensive Game Ever. I released them to the Lemma Soft community free of charge, and my first one. Watashi wa Onigiri, was translated into Russian.
It was a riceball vore piece that quite a few people enjoyed very much. Took maybe an hour to get all the graphics together, and fifteen minutes to code it. I think I'm proud of it, even if I don't have it anymore. I might be able to find it at Lemma Soft, though I don't have an account there anymore.
In short, I've made some games. I might make more in Ren'Py if I can be arsed to. Either that or I might try my hand with Inform.
