The gamecube from 2001-2006 was the dark age for Nintendo. It was awfully designed, had a kiddy image that could never be shaken off and it had terrible third party support. Luckily for Nintendo, the Wii saved them and made the gamecube a distant memory.

... Except that the Wii can also function as a Gamecube. :P

I worked at Sega during the Dreamcast era...it was sad to see it go.

CD-i was horrible. Odyssey 1 was horrible. Also the Atari 5200 kind of has to make the list. I seem to recall a horrible Apple console and a few horrible Tandy/Radio Shack ones.

Vectrex was good, I still kind of want one.

One console that I was excited about from magazine ads was the Ultravision. But it became the first example of vaporware that I can recall.

Yeah, have to agree with the 11-year old boys trash talking. The same 11-ear olds whose mommies ask if they've finished their homework yet in the background The last time I checked, Halo and Gears weren't for kids. It is hillarious to play multiplayer against kids who make raising your killcount easier than easy on single player.

The worst system is the Atari Jaguar, just legendarily terrible. Runner up is the Virtual Boy and the Sega Genesis's various add-ons(Sega CD and Sega 32x), both terrible thought out ideas.

The worst controller is the N64 controller. Weird to control and handle, and stupid to put the memory card in the controller.

The worst handheld game system is the various tiger electronics made in the 90s. Just poorly made, not fun, and for the kids who couldn't afford a gameboy or gamegear.

Most of the video game systems mentioned were pretty awesome, in my opinion. I never had an NES, so will put that up as a contender. There were not enough buttons, no control stick, only a cheap d-pad, and the controller, along with the console, itself was very square and angular. If Nintendo had the foresight to have made the design rounded at the corners, may be they would be in a much stronger position today.

Yeah, the Game.com was a horrible handheld system. I have to disagree with you on two things, though. The first is that the games that were made for the Sega CD (notably Sonic CD, Snatcher, Lunar: The Silver Star and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue) are awesome. Especially Snatcher (which I encourage people to play or emulate if you can't find a physical copy). Second, I'm more used to the Nintendo 64 controller than modern-day controllers for shooters. And I miss speedstrafing which was only possible with an N64 controller. Never needed auto-aim in the shooters for Nintendo 64.

Eternal Champions: Challenge from the Dark Side was an awesome Sega CD game! But bad systems can have good games, I mean Tempest 2000 on the Jaguar rocked and was way ahead of it's time.

I would say the Philips CDI. The control stick is horrible and is completely absent of decent games. This comes from professional reviews, not only my opinion.

I still can't believe that someone would say that Wii is the worst gaming system out there, or the Nintendo 64. What about 3DO? And Bandai Pippin? Atari Jaguar maybe? Can you make a comparison?

I think they're both equally bad.

To be honest . .. PS3 is the system I like the least. I usually do not play console games very much other than a few games from xbox and 360 and I like the wii sports . . . and I have an old gameboy color that i use to play the classic tetris.

But The reason I like ps3 the least is because it felt likea dissapointment from ps2. I think ps2 is still a fantastic system and ps3 has a lot more graphics to offer versus versatility, among other things. For what I understand it is not backwards compatible . . . and I hate that 3060 is not, either.

I wish sega saturn had a better launch timing because the system is amazing . . . but it died so fast!

I personally like all the PlayStation generations, but I agree with the PlayStation 3. To me it seems more like a computer than a gaming console. Or a DVD/BluRay player (Which is nice, but how many BluRay discs do I own? None.). I still enjoy using it though.

What are you talking about? The early-model PS3's are backwards compatible. They play PS1and PS2 games in addition to the PS3 ones. And the Saturn is a great system if you're willing to buy a 4-in-1 cartridge and buy Japanese import games. The American games are mostly inferior to their Japanese counterparts.
