You should just play games what you enjoy no matter if it's a company you hate or not.

If you are too poor to buy a certain game or it's an old game, second hand is fine to buy. I had to do this when I bought Valkyria Chronicles sadly (£32.50 is a rip off second hand but the quality of the game is definitely worth it...sadly SEGA got nothing from me as I had no knowledge of Amazon then, as I couldn't find a NEW copy anywhere).

However, I support SEGA by buying games I enjoy (I don't enjoy ALL their games but I seem to be fond of many of them that they do make), and they have improved since the dark ages of 2003/2007.

But yeah, if you hate EA, you can still buy one or two games to support the developers they own (such as DICE, what did they do wrong?) but things like Origin or Online Passes, just boycott them.

I understand if you have difficulties understanding the fundage of someone with not a lot of money since you easily can buy 60 dollar games and then 20 dollar Microsoft Points on top of that. I also did not need you to tell me you're an idiot, that was just silly of you, but I appreciate your modesty about yourself.

edit-

@Crazy: I won't support Bioware. Dragon Age 2 fiasco, I use to be a member on the Bioware forums and when outrage of fans came unto the Bioware forums. Instead of telling people "thank you for your concerns". They go all out on the customers, in one of their interviews they state "the fans don't know what they want" and the publishers were fighting with their costumers. And they were being downright rude to anyone who didn't like the game. I refuse to support Bioware.

I do boycott Origin and I do boycott Online Passes. If a game comes with an Online Pass then I won't buy it as simple as that. I do not want to have to make an EA account to just acess something and I do not want to have to have permission to play Online. Mortal Kombat does not do that and it works fine, Halo works fine, Soul Calibur works fine.

As stated I appreciate your honesty and your modest nature about yourself. I know you have to grow up, but these aren't really issues to confess on a topic about video games. We have other areas here on Wrong Planet for you to get out your feelings about yourself.

Fair enough, I can understand things like that being very annoying to the customers.

I think Mortal Kombat has an online pass, but you only pay for it if you buy it second hand.

By the way, you heard that EA shut down some servers? Some of them aren't even 18 months old yet!

I don't buy EA games as they are simply not for me, so I wouldn't know how they treat their fans but if you say they are that bad through experience I can't comment about them generally.

Online Passes can be very annoying because I have stated that there are two Xbox 360s in the house. One is the families and the other belongs to one of the family members. It makes it very hard with these single codes.

Like we never did the whole code for the Bioshock 2 because we aren't playing on the same accounts and it wouldn't be fair if someone else got the special characters and someone didn't.

It's like developers only think that people have one person in the house who plays games or one system. But then when it comes to home multiplayer they expect them to have two different systems. Home multiplayer is when you sit side by side. Many times it says co-op offline and then it tells me we need to system link.

So they have single use codes for online. But then they expect you to have two systems offline. It's bogus.

That happened with me and my bro too, but he used it as it was his game, which was fair enough.

Usually though, that is the case, although it's not the definite statistic.

I thought they gotten rid of the system link since no one used it?

It is a paradox I agree.

I wouldn't know about the System Link, because we gave up after a while. If it said offline multiplayer we just ignored it because we had so many problems in the past. Though recently playing Portal 2 with my younger brother.

Oh and GAME are officially in Administration!

Good riddance. They'd left their Irish staff high and dry with wages owed and no redundancy payments while they were still trading in the UK.

I have to agree with Pandora_Box. Getting rid of the used game market will be the death of the industry provided this recession doesn't get better any time soon. That and BS like online passes and talk of getting rid of used games altogether on Microsoft's next system. DLC is a bit of a mixed bag, but it's certainly no excuse for developers to be lazy or deliberately hold out to make more money. It's not so much about entitlement as it is about being far more restricted; it is the same as those stupid SOPA and PIPA bills that were thankfully not passed.

How exactly will getting rid of the second hand market be the death of the games industry, when the only people to profit from the second hand market are retailers (sometimes reselling the same game multiple times)?
If you can't afford to buy a video game at its retail price, then find another pass-time. People need to know what entitlement actually means and SOPA's not even a relevant comparison.

SOPA has everything to do with it. Once you've got a monopoly on all types of media, you've got a big problem. Having full control of product like that is not good, and soon enough nobody will be able to afford to keep buying at full price. They'll be losing out on more money than they whine about not getting due to the doodoo heads at Gamestop.
Imagine if there was no market for used cars. That business would be long gone by now.

I don't follow. We're not talking about monopolising media. What we are talking about is the high price of game development and a large portion of potential profits being funelled to retailers who in some cases endorse disreputable upselling practices. The videogames industry is not as robust as most seem to think it is, we only have to look to the past to see what happened with Atari and publishers like Imagine and Ocean. I'd sooner my money go to the people who deserve it, knowing I am contributing to future development, rather than try to save a pittance by purchasing second hand games and moaning about in online.
