I am honestly surprised by it's initial success. Just shows you what good marketing can do!

It has actually had particularly bad marketing with a number of people confused and not realizing its a new console. I think if more people realized it wasn't an add-on for the Wii, the demand would actually be higher.

I will get the Wii U when a 3D MMORPG of Angry Birds is released. Which means I won't be getting it. :p The steep price, the starting update issues people had, and the single controller thing sort of throw me off the wagon for it.

The price isn't that steep. 300/350 for the two different models, keep in mind the 360 was 300/400 and the PS3 was 500/600 at release. You can be damn sure the next Microsoft and Sony consoles are going to be higher than the Wii U as well.

Haven't upgraded to Wii-U yet.

Considering doing it next year, though.

It is backwards compatible with Wii games. You can play Skyward Sword on the Wii U, but you will need to have a Wii Motion Plus capable remote and the standard nunchuck

I think I'll wait a year or two. That's a lot of money.

I admit I was a little skeptical when I heard about the features of the Wii U, feeling that the controller was actually a step backwards from the Wii. I had the chance to demo it this past weekend, and I have to say I'm pretty surprised at how effective it actually is. Now, I don't see a reason to bash it. The Wii mini, on the other hand...

+ 1 Definitely not spending that much on a console currently. I'll probably consider it when the next Super Smash Bros. comes out :P

For those who want a humourous and practical review of the Wii U, look no further than this video:

I've seen my friend's Wii U, and Zombi U (liked the music in Ron Freedman's flat :bounce:)

Not sure I'd buy one for myself, though.

I don't think that's entirely the fault of the marketing. More to do with people's utter ignorance and stupidity! :lmao:

I'd also like to add that in the UK at least, Nintendo has made it very clear that this is a NEW CONSOLE. Although their actors are as cringe-worthy as ever.

To any doubters, I have the Wii U, and although there are a few minor issues, the console, buy and large, is fantastic. I recommend it.

The UK ads have been TERRIBLE to say the least but they made it abundantly clear it's a new console.
Let's hope the new ad campaigns this year do it justice.

P.S. My WiiU arrives tomorrow. Anyone got a Nintendo Network ID? I haven't made mine yet but list it here and I'll add you :)
