So... let's talk business.

For everyone who is still following this thread, would tomorrow at around 8pm GMT -5 (NYC time unless it's already summer or something) work? We could at the very least get into an IRC channel, or through Skype (In an emergency I could set up a teamspeak server, I currently don't know how to, but I learn fast and have a fast computer.)

Would probably be too soon to start again, but wencoud agree on a time and which game would be playing. An alternative could be 3pm GMT-5, which would work for Euro gamers as well.

Crap- I forgot to mention that I found out on Wednesday that I'll be out of town all weekend on a young adults' retreat in Santa Cruz. I've already paid my attendance fee and had a place reserved for me in the van and at the housing accommodations, so I can't really back out now. Sorry about that. I'll try to have all the necessary files uploaded somewhere accessible before I leave tonight at 5 PM, GMT -8, though; so people can get started without me if they want.

I guess not.

Since I am craving a taste of D&D to reconnect with some of the happiest memories of my youth, I will see if there is an encounters game at a local game place.

I was hoping there would be others here and this thread looked like the right place.

Is it that everyone does WOW or something similar now? Or do people not go for this genre anymore?

I've just had a lot of stuff going on recently, and a lot of trouble managing my depression for the last couple of weeks. Still gonna fish the D&D stuff I have off my laptop and stick it on my desktop, now that it's working again. I'm still up for it, but I gotta get my head on straight again, so to speak, and tear myself away from try to learn to use the CryENGINE 3 SDK effectively- my latest obsession.

Sorry to hear that. I hope it gets easier.
I hate depression.

A shameless necropost, but I've got a lot of free time on my hands right now, and my mood has been much better and quite stable for a month or so, as well, so I figured I'd try to revive this idea.

So, starting off, I'm taking a new poll: What edition or off-shoot of D&D would everyone be interested in playing most?

Original Series:

Dungeons & Dragons: 1st Edition
Advanced Dungeons & Dragons
Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: 2nd Edition
Dungeons & Dragons: 2nd Edition
Dungeons & Dragons: 3rd Edition
Dungeons & Dragons: 3.5 Edition
Dungeons & Dragons: 4th Edition

Campaign Settings:

Forgotten Realms
Dark Sun
Planescape
Eberron

Off-Shoots:

Pathfinder

Feel free to suggest anything I've forgotten to list here, as well.

One vote for Pathfinder.

And I vote we make a Pathfinder Society game out of this :D We might have 4-6 people interested, right?

Haven't played since 1982.... so I am open to whatever rules the majority cares for. Hopefully whatever I would need to buy is not heinously expensive--as a dad, I find it hard to justify expenses of this kind on myself...

Way back in the day I played with the original little books, then the first AD&D system, also Traveller.

Nope. It's open to anyone who wants to join, whenever. Actually organizing it and doing all the logistics fell by the wayside for a few months, but I'm trying to pick it back up again and actually get things moving, now that I'm feeling better again.

This sounds great, although I'd need a refresher course.

Is there space for me too? It depends a little on the times, I'm at GMT+1h (+1h DST), and have a night-shift work schedual, so it can really get messy...

I am not the most experienced gamer, but I love to play tabletop.
I think last time I played D&D, it was 3rd ed and forgotten realms, but my group used a lot of house-rules. They had been gaming together since the late 80's/early 90's, so they had tweaked everything to their own liking.

I would like to participate.
