Would it be a better idea to get the newer version, and play Pokemon HeartGold ; instead of Pokemon Silver ?

The problem with the original cartridges is that they all fairly recently ran out of power in their internal batteries that were used to keep track of time, without which would make it difficult, for events that may have happened depending on the day, and things dependent on the time like Pokémon only appearing at night, or evolutions dependent on the time of day. If you have a DS it would be a good choice to go for the remake as it is much more expanded, individual sprites even allowed the first Pokémon in your team to follow you around. It was also a very pretty game to look at.

Why is everyone so focused on IVs, it kind of ruins the game to be so obsessed as to only verse certain Pokémon to raise specific stats. And the introduction of special and physical attacks is a saving grace, before it made Pokémon like Sneasel practically useless with its ice typing, but now if you manage to teach it Ice Punch, the you have a good shot against grass, flying, rock, and ground. Them being together also made some moves like Amnesia really broken as you could raise the defensive power and offensive power really quickly, there is more of need at times to search out different moves, and it adds more complexity.

Yup, I play, and I'm anxious for Pokemon X to come out! My only real complaint with the games is the inability to transfer your old pokemon to new games without access to another person/game system. I do not know anyone in person who even owns a 3DS, let alone plays pokemon, so I've never been able to transfer my pokemon, or even evolve the ones that require a trade.

My issue isn't that they exist, it's that certain Pokemon are going to be weaker then others in the same situation (maybe significantly) because of all the different stats that EVs can feed into and the limited pool early on unless a player wants to go the tedious route, cheat, or save Pokemon for later.

I don't see how it is that much of a problem. Being honest in some of my plays in games I have mostly used Pokémon I got early on, and almost exclusively trained by versing trainers, and usually using the Pokémon that required the most experience to go up the next level. With a good head for strategy with their moves you can even beat the gym leaders, who can have Pokémon several levels higher, without too much difficulty.

The only thing I tend to get obsessive about is from breeding the right moves into Pokémon, and where I want to get a specific personality that will encourage growth in certain stats. My later custom made teams tend to have my entire team mostly have a Ditto for a father. The amount of Pawniards (a Pokémon made out of knives) I released outside of a day-care centre.

I need to try the SoulSilver version as a reintroduction to this franchise to myself!

Something that sucks is that you have to have Pokemon games from the 3rd-5th generation to do everything and gameboy games aren't available in the shops anymore.

I play it occasionally though I wish they'd branch out with more 3D console games like XD and Coliseum.

So I just got Pokemon Black. What should my starter Pokemon be? I really need to find myself back in this game after so long!

Also about the recent reveal, I am so looking forward to having a Mega Mawile or Mega Absol.
