I can't seem to go outside without people I trust nearby, I think I developed agoraphobia or something...

I did find a Facebook group of local players in talking to.

Just downloaded the APK today (not out in Canada yet). There's about 20 poi with 15 min of my work which I can walk to. I also found a bunch of poi running around my neighbourhood. I caught a squirtle in my bedroom and I found an abra? (I think) in my bedroom, but it ran away. So far I have: drowzee, jynx, clefairy, zubat x 2, paras, nidorino, magikarp, rattata, spearow, weedle, squirtle x 2, caterpie glitched on me. I saw 3-4 people out catching pokemon today. I've also heard of groups of up to 50 around town.

My daughter was excited about going for a drive with me to collect some Pokemon but then found out the Aus servers have been down all day.

I get the feeling that if you fall behind level-wise, there's no way to catch up since the gyms will usually be controlled by those with Pokémon of high levels, and as time goes on, people will get their levels higher and higher. I haven't been out of the house much and am only at level five, while the gym near me is controlled by someone at level thirteen. But once I get to level thirteen, the gym's controller will probably be around level thirty. I just don't see how one can get back on equal footing.

As your trainer level rises, the CP of the wild Pokemon also rise.

The Trainer's level doesn't matter, it's the CP level of the Pokemon that matters.

You can swipe left and right to dodge attacks.
Also you type advantage to get super effective hits.

Grass and Water are super effective against Ground and Rock
Fire is super effect against Grass and Steel
Dark is super effective against Psychic
Flying is super effective against Grass
Etc...

Super Effective does triple the damage.
Not very effective does 1/3rd the damage.

I got a CP 290 Eevee and leveled to 11.

Thankfully my Meijer's is a Pokestop so I was able to hit it up a few times while I was shopping.
I also hatched 2 eggs but I didn't get anything good from them.

I downloaded the game last night and barely looked at it until I got downtown to the pedestrian shopping area. I parked my bike and walked across the highway to Norm's Restaurant, catching my first two Pokemon along the way and learning about Pokestops at Norm's. When I went back downtown, I noticed Pokestops EVERYWHERE and half of the people walking around staring at their phones seemed to be playing. One guy even pointed me toward an attractor; we were both looking at our phones and walking, we looked up and our eyes met and he said, "You're playing too?"

It's blowing up.

I bet those downtown spots are great places to hunt about 8 am, when the streets are safe again and everything has had a chance to respawn. The difference in Pokemon density before and after lunch was striking, but like I said there were dozens of people playing in that area.

Shops are sponsoring Pokestops and attractors, I guess? Seems like a legit way to fund the game.

Now that I've cooled down, I think I'll walk around my neighborhood and see what's up. It's pretty addictive, but it does promote physical activity, so I like that about it.

Edit: Except that I forgot I nearly completely drained my phone collecting about 100 pokeballs and 7 eggs

Local police radio is full of "Pokemon walkers" tonight. Some are being protected as they wander at 12:30am in not-so-safe parts of town. 8O

I ran into two middle age women in the park who asked me if I was playing Pokemon Go

I failed to take over the gym in the park, but I lowered it to Level 3 from Level 5, though I ran out of revives.

I also caught a CP 353 Eevee at the other park where the town worker asked me if I was playing Pokemon Go, when he saw me with my iPhone.

FYI Pokemon Go is out in Germany officially now!.
Though the German servers are being hammered.

I just caught 11 in under half an hour when I went to a big department store. 4 were waiting for me outside, and then 4 more appeared while I looked at those and I caught 3 of them. 2 while I was waiting in line and 2 more after I went through the register. It was epic.

Still feel a bit awkward going up and speaking to people for now. How did you guys get over it? The game itself is fun and addictive.

It finally came out in the uk today. I went to a local park and there were quite a few that were playing. I got a pikachu as the first one. Almost at level 4 now.
