I'm pretty sure you can still complete the quest, so long as you speak to Lucy West before detonating the bomb. All you need is her letter. I don't recall if you ever need to return to her after rescuing her brother from The Family near Arefu. If you do then I suppose you'd have to beat the quest first, but I don't remember having to speak to her again so I don't think it matters. You can also just pick pocket Moira for the shishkebab schematics.

You can do the quest without Lucy west, it just means you can't achieve one of the many possible outcomes.

What I'd say would be a good idea would to be keep a stash of weapons in the vault, just in case you really need them.

Have a number of entrances incase you need to creep out of the back, or possibly, if you were to put windows in the vault you could view out, and fire at people from inside your vault, which would be a pretty good spot for aiming practice...

I currently have an armory for the vault which is capable of fully arming at least 12 men plus 8 men who would be equiped with power armor. I also plan on adding some sentry turrets inside the vault and outside the vault door.

As for having a number of entrances, I've contemplated it, but I don't really see the need. The vault door will hold against anything and if the inhabitants want to go outside they have enough firepower to do so safely. I might add a teleporter to one of the lower levels though. As for the window idea, I like it, unfortunately there isn't a model that has exterior vault windows. Mabye I should build a compound outside of the vault door which could easily be used once the vaults inhabitants decide to open the vault? I'll post some pictures of possible compounds which can be built outside the vault later when I get home.

Which prostitute? I dont recall being able to rescue any 8O The only two I know of are Nova and the other chick who lives in Springvale.

Little update on my vault:
I've been working on the interior cave which houses the actual vault entrance. So that's near completion. I've decided on the location on which to place the entrance.

Image
This is the surrounding area, its to the very north of the map, some distance from anything important. Excuse the horrible night screenshots. The area comes with its own little bridge even :D

Image
This is where I actually am going to place the vault cave. I'm going to remove both the power lines (they don't go anywhere and only connect to each other) and place some large rocks where the very back power line is.

Once I've done that I can proceed to add more exterior structures which includes a little mini base outside.

Ok, with all this talk of 'your vault' and adding windows, having more than one entrance, using it as an armory, etc., I've got to ask. Can you buy and/or create a vault in the game, or is this something you're doing on PC that I can't do on PS3? I can't find any mention of obtaining a vault for personal use on any walkthrough or wiki, and I want to know.

You can create anything in the game. You just need a nifty little tool called the GECK editor. I think its only on PC though.

Doh!

I'd be pleasantly surprised if this GECK was on PS3. *crosses fingers and runs off to Google search*

:( Nope, PC only. And the PS3 gets the cold shoulder again, DLC for Xbox360, but no love for PS3

I'm loving this so far. I'm not in any rush to find my dad, so I'm exploring the world one bit at a time, and doing side quests.

No DLC for PS3. but I hope we'll see a GOTY edition with all the add-ons on one disc.

Great game, but the Nuka Cola challenge is the most insipid side-quest I've ever played. Love the V.A.T.S, quite spectacular when you reach a high level with a meaty gun!

I must say after playing both of the previous two and Fallout Tactics. I think Bethesda did a good job. I don't really mind all that much that it is very similar to Oblivion, I still think it is really good.

True. I don't get why so many people are saying that its simply oblivion with guns. Its an awesome game, well executed with hardly any flaws.

There should be. Three packs are being released for PC so I assume they are doing the same for the XBOX.
EDIT:
DLC Information
That's one of the packs they are releasing, I'm 100% sure I've read something about them releasing it to the Xbox somewhere.
