It's not just a simple "miss", though we've become used to calling it that. You're rolling against their armor class, which is a combination of their dexterity (ability to dodge your attacks), and their physical defences (armor, shield, thick skin, bones, etc.). Also, very small classes (like halflings) are harder to hit, while very large targets are easier.

There are other variables to take into account (such as +1 for having the high ground), but that's the gist of it.

Yes, I know that... In a game like Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights, dice rolling works fine, but with gameplay like Dungeon and Dragon Online's, it would be better off without dice rolling.

I loved Baldurs Gate 2, did you ever try to complete it with a single character?

I have yet to play any BG game, but I'm playing Neverwinter Nights 1 right now, and it's great. 8)

I am currently playing Dragon Quest IX. Also re-started playing Dragon Quest IV.

My Final Fantasy IX and Shin Megami Tensei: Persona games are on hold because my PSP battery does not work...

I don't know, I'm just speaking on behalf of the actual P&P game that I assume the online game is trying to replicate.

It's possible, but incredibly hard. I've seen people do it thought, at least on the Bioware forum.

Currently replaying Metro 2033. Fantastic game.

Currently playing:
The first game in the Phoenix Wright series
Neverwinter Nights original campaign
Super Mario Galaxy
Evo: Search For Eden

I feel obligated to recommend every game I'm currently playing; they're all very entertaining.

Just curious for those that have played it, does Neverwinter Nights work on the latest Windows system? Windows 7 I mean. I can't even get my Diablo 2 working.

Yep, it works perfectly fine on Windows 7 for me, except for a couple minor graphical issues.

I am currently playing Final Fantasy XIII on the PS3. I'm not sure what to think of it. I'm not loving it, but I'm not hating it either.

Having recently conquered Super Metroid for the first time, I think I shall tidy up with Crystal collection in Project K64.

Brilliant game. It's up there with the best SNES RPGs if you ask me.
I'm currently playing Mount&Blade warband. It's pretty entertaining, challenging too. But it also needs a large time investment, which is just the kind of game I need.

Currently I'm playing a fair bit of BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, a heck of a lot of Minecraft, and occasional bouts of World of Warcraft, only logging onto the latter to raid. I also have some games I'm meaning to get back to at some stage, like The Witcher.
