Exactly, time marches on. Things get better. People rebuild.
Also. if you had a relatively intact Vegas and Hoover Dam to power it, why wouldn't you let Sin City be Sin City?
If you want to gripe, gripe about the implausibility Vegas/Hoover Dam being spared a direct hit....
But that can be explained too.
Can you say "Archimedes II orbital laser" ?

As long as they do not allow people to get the Experimental MIRV... that would totally ruin gameplay balance and PvP would be reduced to 5 second encounters.

Not to mention that the town of Gecko had a *WORKING* Nuclear Reactor and it was pumping out enough power for expansions. Don't expect a wasteland to remain forever as a wasteland. Unless you really want humanity to fail and continue to suffer.
Ah, the orbital laser. I kinda hope that the Fallout setting would expand outside of the former US area. How about the former Europe or Chinese area.

Might be interesting to visit the African continent. The southern parts aren't exactly heavily laden with targets for a nuclear strike (Pretoria, Jo'burg maybe) and thus theoretically should have had plenty of time to carry on unmolested. A new Zulu nation perhaps might be fun.

>>> You know I wondered about that weapon though. like wouldn't you like launch nuke grenades at close quartered enemies and get a face full of hot radioactive goo in your face as well blind yourself? The poor victim japanese man at Hiroshima, (poor guy ). All that was left of him was two burn marks and a hair of shoes and his shadow or something.
(@ the post about Africa not getting nuked and stuff).
>>> This reminds me. In Jr High we read Chrysalids, and the Newfies of Canada (Newfoundland and Labrador), survive the war, because they are a remote province. Most of the trade goes INTO the St Lawrence to Montreal. But I can see many communities on the Ungava peninsula. (Where Maine and Vermont is I think). They don't get nuked, and grow to be surviving communities insane theocracies. Looks like the Newfies get their country back as they wanted.
Also I hope this universe branches out to China.I would be interested to see their challenges to rebuilding as they were hit by the nukes as well. Does China become a fragmented country of smaller political fifedoms as is usually the case when the central government breaks down. (on this note, in reality, when the Communist Party of China disintegrates, It's not going to be pretty. It'll be for the common Chinese, just another dynasty passing.

As I recall the Chinese feature in Fallout3, so there is no reason, background-wise why they shouldn't pop up elsewhere. (Though I imagine there is some reason why this wouldn't fit the "world" anyway.)

In fallout 2.....Read Below...
They actually fit in the world regardless along with the reference to scientologists. For all we know, the chinese could be rebuilding its society from the ground up on the other side of the world.
I guess all the Chinese Americans died in the war.... :_( But that would be a funny conversation. The American Chinese using traditional Chinese and Wade Gilies Romanization vs New Chinese Pinyin and spelling. (The Sub crew). And I didn't get that far with Fallout 2. All I made it to was new Reno then I slept with the mobster's boss, my team was no where to be found (a bug). and I make it as far as the front door before the two goons with the tommy guns mess my chick up. And I do all that work.. too like kill Metzger, become a boxing champ (I could never find the lead punching gloves), and save the power plant. sheesh....
