The Fallout New Vegas topic (might be spoilers)
Edit: I'm asking here instead of looking for a guide or answers on google because I just want a simple answer. I don't want a guide to tell me everything about the game while I'm searching for the answer ruining the game for me... I only use guides on games I don't like... or games that require one
I've read that you have to do Arcade Gannon's quests to get the training. (You'll need a high speech to get him to join.)

Thank you ... I would have never checked there to find him to later learn the skill for power armor
I'll have to go find him later when I boost my speech. My character is female with an 11 in speech right now so I have no chance
Okay PS3 finally got an update so hopefully that fixes some bugs in this game but I noticed something dumb that I'm assuming was part of the update. I bought an Anti-Material Rifle early on as soon as I could in my game for maybe around 7500 caps. After the update it has now been increased in value to 12606 caps... I looked in the store and they're being sold for 19 grand. Why would this have been in an update? First off... it isn't all that great... after my first shot I switch to my Gobi scout because if it ain't dead it's going to rush me and the Anti-material rifle has an awful DPS that actually subtracts from the greatness of the gun. Yes it has a massive first blow but it is no good in a firefight (1 shot every 2.06 seconds blows ass). Really to me the initial price was fair because I have to keep a whole other rifle with me... well I actually have 3 for different situations but I couldn't just have the A-MR... and it weights 20 lbs. I don't think I'd ever really spend 19 grand on the stupid thing unless there were upgrades available for it that gave it a DPS boost up the arse and something that cuts the weight in half. If that was done I might consider it when caps are flowing out of control but... erm... that hasn't happened and I'm level 18. What was the developer thinking when they boosted the value of the gun by 100% and not fixing its flaws. I have to keep lesser rifles with me just to get by
Edit: I was wrong. The base value of a A-MR is 13782 caps. I must have shot mine once or twice since it's worth about a 1000 less and the CND bar looks the same. That's way too much
It's a pretty good game. It feels far more like Fallout 1 and 2 than 3 in regards to the environment, story and setting. I like. Geckos! Golden Geckos! There's no super story so far, which I like; it's like those parts of wandering the wastes in Fallout 1 and the earlier parts of 2, vast emptiness and desolation. The towns look and feel the same as they did in the earlier games, just 3D. I'm sure Vegas is probably more lively, but then, New Reno was the same. O! It's cool how you can really tell when a firefight is going on near you between factions/people. The loud gunshots are welcome.
Anyway, here's my simple Courier (John), ready to take down that small Legion outpost early on (the prisoners):
I actually didn't use the rifle pictured, rather I used a tricked out Varmint Rifle; one shot, one kill (head shot). Just simple attire, with sunshades; I carry light and step equally light. I play on Hardcore mode, which really isn't that hard so far. The only part that had me reloading a few times was due to having no pulse grenades or mines to use on those hardcore Sentry Bots. Haven't hit Vegas yet, but that's my current quest.
Boone got killed. Running around with ED-E as my pal now. He's cool.
I don't know how you take pictures from the PS3. Someone more familiar with the console might know.
I got all the companions now. Sweet... I have Arcade but I don't know how to trigger his quests....
So which companions are the most useful?...
I would have to say Boone and Veronica. Both of them have good attack power. Boone might be slightly better if you're exploring, Veronica is better in close quarters(I've given her a T-51B and the Ballistic Fist so she's a tank now). ED-E is great for carrying stuff... otherwise still not good in a fight. Raul, Cass and Arcade are only average fighters and get killed rather easy. Lily is okay, she's a bit of a tank but her melee attack doesn't seem to do enough damage to make her better than Veronica. Rex unfortunately is the worst companion. Even though he's cool and all, he runs off way too much and just gets killed.
Best companion combo is Boone and ED-E. You'll see anyone coming at you from afar and take them out. Especially if you're playing sniper, they make things real easy.
So I'm starting on the final missions for the NCR. Seems so far they just want me to go around neutralizing foes. I managed to get the Greats Khans to leave peacefully(though the game sure as heck didn't want to make that easy to do... Sneaking around Deathclaws and right up to Caesar himself in his fort?... let's just this would have been impossible without stealthboys). Took out Mr. House... He never did much for me anyway, and now they want me to take out the BoS. I'm trying to see if there is a way to do this without killing them(me being trying to be good guy here). Sure they're jerks to Veronica but they seem chill with me and still have this cool gear...

Done and done.
Screenshot just before the final battle. NCR Vets and Boone are my backup on our way to take out Lanius.
The end was kind of sudden... I was a tad disappointed I didn't get to fight all the way to Caesar in his Fort. My god, are the end credits long...
So I had about 65 hours of playtime, found 143 locations(although for some reason the Master of the Mojave achievement didn't register for me), completed 50 quests and a total kill count of 770.
Judging by the ending there are still many quests I didn't complete. Something to look forward to on the on the next go around. I still didn't do much on the Strip and obviously I never did Raul's or Arcade's quests.
It's a great game despite it's glitches. I'm still not actually sure if I like this better than Fallout 3 or not. I do enjoy that there is so much more to do and more characters to interact with. I think the dialogue is a bit better and the combat feels a bit better than in F3. Compared to F3 I've definitely ran into fewer problems and the game hardly crashed on me, but there are still some there that will hopefully be fixed in future patches. Issues with vanishing companions and problems with lever based weapons seemed to bothered the most. I already talked about the companion problems, but I've noticed lever-based guns will sometimes stop working in the middle of fights or there will be a huge delay before I can fire after reloading.
Asides from glitches, I also found the invisible walls to be annoying. There's a lot more of them than there was in F3 and it was making finding good sniping perches more difficult. Also, I really don't like the fixed ammo hotkey. I found it useless and it didn't seem to work the way it was intended for me. I would rather map another weapon to that key.
So overall... I feel New Vegas was a 9/10 experience for me. Very good game, but still has a few flaws.
Now that I've done my proper playthrough, the real fun begins.

I don't know how you take pictures from the PS3. Someone more familiar with the console might know.
PS3 doesn't have screen capture so they are just pictures taken from a camera. They look shoddy because my monitor brings light flare to the camera but the pictures aren't that bad... I wish there was a screen capture though
I was curious on how to upload them still because I know people take pictures of their art an post it in those topics... so I'm sure there's a way to do it I just don't know how. I assume you have to upload them to an online site or something because if I click add picture here it makes me type in a web address
I guess I could ask in random discussion or maybe my friend knows how... she's smart with computer stuff
Hehe my friend is so smart she's awesome.
I figured I'd just post a pic that combined the glitch and my character
Erm... please excuse the fuzzyness and the picture is a little squished

I don't use the Fat Man it just looked more dramatic and silly to equip that If it's hard to tell what's going on I found a way to suspend land mines in the air and I am standing on them
I've got other pictures too but all were taken in a joking matter
These things seem to be done In fairly similar ways in each faction you choose. I chose wild card and got the Kahns to leave peacefully. I didn't sneak in to fight Caesar though. I chose to side with the BHOS although it did nothing for the outcome of the ending as they didn't pitch in to help. I'm curious from your end pic... did the rangers follow you throughout the whole end mission? Because that seems like the best squad possible for the end. Wild Card sucked because those damn robots get dropped insanely fast and they don't kill much despite their supposed upgrade. Also When I tried to confront Caesar and instead found him gone... My bots friggin ditched me at the gates and I had to fight the Legion single-handedly. I'm just curious to know if they tried to make wild card a harder option than the others since in wild card you are practically fighting as a one person army... were you left to fight alone for a majority of the end mission? Also I think playing the NCR may be the best as far as not having enemies. I noticed the rangers are the toughest enemies to confront... so I practically s**t when I saw the end was to fight 5 of them and the general
I really probably could have fought them with my character now by playing dirty. Knowing what I do now I'd bring a few stealth boys and load the front gate with frag mines... that is if they wouldn't explode from the general standing there in the cut-scene. I'd have to don a stealth boy and try to dodge bullets too to get to better ground if I could and then I'd start chucking mini nukes cuz there's now way to fight that many without splash damage... this is all theory because I still don't know if I would be able to live though the getting up off my ass animation to even try this Botched boss battle in my opinion... it wasn't tested out on hardcore I don't think. There's just nowhere to go from the start unless my plan would work. I tried popping stims and booking it high in reverse but it's literally a 6 on 1 battle with the games top notch enemies with no cover... and you get caught off guard since like I said you start in a stunned animation and I really really think the general is not human when you speak to him. I don't care how hardened you are... you aren't going to be a tough ass with 100 Missile armed bots surrounding you... I was also unimpressed that the bots didn't just meld the tards flesh to the floor with missiles as soon as the battle started. I got killed 2 or 3 times before changing the difficulty and plastering the idiot because for 1 the bots don't fire anything for much too long and for 2 when they do the game pulls the uber unrealistic... missiles don't do crap to armored enemies. Erm... guys in trench coats are too tough to be blown apart by missiles I guess... I guess fashion saves in the Fallout realm Also I lost my patience for the battle immediately when I saw how poorly planned out it was... if it had been possible I would have fought on... but with the odds being as soon as the 5 minute dialogue sequence is done... I'm dead... I got pissed off and dropped the difficulty. I couldn't stand hearing him talk for that long just to see how badly made the boss battle was. IMO it was the only badly done part of the game... as in I think they handed that job to the janitor because everyone was tired after making all the other endings. There was no design skill to it whatsoever so that was severely amateur.
Anyway I'm working for Mister House now although since I already did Wild Card I already know everyone's point of views and that Wild card was the good ending so now the rest feel kinda meh... but I still wanna see em all
Oh yeah and I killed all the deathclaws in the Khans quest to get them to leave peacefully in my last game... you don't have to sneak. You have to stealth snipe them from far off with something powerful like the Anti-Material Rifle. When you do this they only rush you one at a time usually. The only pain was the mother and the Alpha Male... since they were very resistant to death. With my new character having better criticals I could probably kill them easier now... and also I'd definitely plant some mines in their paths just in case they started to get close... so I'd sneak to plant some mines I guess
Does anybody know where I can find an NCR ranger so I can get his trench coat? I want to see what that looks like on my character and I see no problem as walking around as NCR even though I'm not NCR since the opposing factions to NCR aren't all that tough.
I know if I get on NCR's bad side they'll send a hit squad after me with rangers in it but I'd prefer to find a lone ranger... I probably don't even need to kill him to get his armor if he isn't hostile.
Also does anyone know the DT it holds?... those guys seem resilient to damage so I'm guessing the armor has a nice DT or the game just makes them hard to kill with high stats.
I'm currently wearing the Elder's Robes Which I like because they only weigh like 2 and they carry no faction unlike the scribe robes... but I just feel the DT on robes is ridiculously weak even though they look nice... and the Elder's Robes are even weaker only having a DT of 1 instead of 2. I'm looking for other options in armor I guess... but I don't like the look of any of the armor aside from the Ranger's trench coat so that's why I'm asking
