You could place redstone repeaters pointing towards the exit, since they're one-way.
I get lost in caves repeatedly, but what's worse is when you get lost in the overworld. For example, I went into this Jungle biome that's maybe two kilometers from my home, completely lost my sense of direction, and had to get home by way of suicide and respawn.
