Turns out my connection problems with the Wi-Fi on the Wii U wasn't the hardware's fault. My router is actually shittier than I even thought it was. I knew it was fairly low-end as far as speed is concerned but didn't realize it had less range than a T-Rex could throw a baseball. Decided if I am going to buy a new router I am going to buy a good one, no connection problems since.

Nintendo's latest Nintendo Direct was entirely Wii U news. Some fantastic stuff in there. Some truly fantastic stuff.

Yes. YES!

There is a couple other game announcements in there, and news about the Wii U version of the Virtual Console shop. They also confirmed that they will show playable versions of the next 3D Mario title and Mario Kart at E3, as well as the first screens of the next Super Smash Bros then too.

The way I'm looking at things, its more of, 'Oh? Finally.', rather than elated celebrations that the system released two months early is finally picking up the pace. At the rate things are going, it won't be until fall until I even consider purchasing a Wii-U. Hopefully by then, Nintendo will stop playing ostrich with the players.

And a good chunk of that Nintendo Direct was wasted with Iwata giving a glorified tutorial of his pet project.

I just hope that for their sake, they start rolling out Virtual Console titles in batches rather than droppers in an empty 5 gallon bucket.

Zelda:The Wind Waker for Gamecube right? That's pretty funny it's still arguably the most graphically-impressive Zelda game ever even though it's 10 years old now.

300 dollars for a casual gamer console? No, thank you. One gaming PC is good enough.

Thats actually not the Gamecube version, but a graphically updated HD rerelease coming later this for Wii U. One major difference is they drastically improved the lighting. I honestly would have been happy with a straight port that support 1080p because that would have still looked amazing, but this was unexpected and even more awesome.

You know, I could replace Wii U in this post with Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo DS, Wii, PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, etc. and it would look exactly like things people posted at this point in those hardwares lifetime.

Having both the handheld bit and the screen makes it looks like you need to be able to do two things at once. Considering I can't walk and drink through a straw at the same time yet, I think I'll skip buying this console!

I am surprised it's available in stores. i thought it would be just like the Wii where it's hard to get one in stores because they were always out of stock. My dad and I once got the last one at a Wal Mart after looking in two different places and they only got three in that day and two were always purchased and we got the last one.

I want to get a Wii U and I haven't yet. I could use my savings to get one. I want the deluxe kind. I played it at the New Years Party and liked it. You don't have to use the touch screen to play the game.

Now here folks, is someone with sense. I know people twice the poster's age that will spend whatever it takes to get the new systems, regardless of quality or innovation.

i sold my wii (lol)

I missed the zedla game skyward sword - I'm considering a wii u for that reason. I could buy a wii again but then im sure a wii u specific zelda game will come out.

Amazing how one game makes me consider an entire console

Thats because $300 to the average 16 year old is harder to come by than for the average 32 year old.

Okay, that's true. You do have a point there. But I still think it's weird how people will run out and drop 300 on a Wii U when they already have Vita and PSP and 3DS and Wii and X360 etc etc. It's their money, but I personally think it's a bit of a waste. It's not like the games are gonna be THAT different.

People always say that every time a new console comes out, doesn't matter which one it is. I think the biggest reason why is how often the launch window is filled with ports anymore. There are still early exclusives and over time, that new console is going to be the one getting new games while all the older ones stop getting anything and lose their shelf space gradually as the new generation takes over. Their is a huge difference in games when you take that into account, new releases actually exist for the new console whereas they don't for the old one. I actually sold my Wii to a friend earlier last year knowing I planned to get a Wii U anyways. Same with when I was planning to get my 3DS I gave my old original DS to my Niece as a birthday present.

Early adoption isn't for everyone though but there is nothing wrong with buying a console at launch, just like there is nothing wrong with waiting for price drops. And really, companies need both of those types of consumers to be interested for the product to succeed. Otherwise you end up like the Dreamcast. If you don't have the early adopters, game developers don't support the console and the only price drops you will see are when that console is dead and clearanced off shelves.
