In Parasite Eve II, a gunblade can be obtained.
The Parasite Eve games were based on (to a degree) a horror novel by Hideaki Sena. The novel has only recently been translated to English. The events of the novel are referred to by the scientist Dr Maeda in the original game.
In the game Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2 for Yanks), Mark Hamill plays the voice of Griffon. Hamill, while best known for his role as Luke Skywalker, is now a voice actor who played the Joker in the Batman animations.
The Japanese rock star called 'Gackt' is sometimes thought of as the inspiration for the look of Squall Leonhart in Final Fantasy VIII, but Tetsuya Nomura said that the actual inspiration was late actor River Phoenix. Gackt is now the offical basis for a Final Fantasy character, becoming the face and voice actor of the mysterious super-SOLDIER 'G', who has appeared in a cameo in Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII and will have an important role in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.
Each of the Elite DeepGround commanders (otherwise known as the Tsviets) in Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII are named after a colour, and usually have a title next to their name that reflects their named colour, with one exception.
Tsviet is based on the Russian zvet for colour.
Azul the Cerulean's name and title are based on the colour blue. Azul is Spanish/Portuguese for blue.
Rosso the Crimson has her name meaning red in Italian.
Shelke the Transparent has no colour in her title, but her name means 'orange' in Urdu, a language spoken in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Nepal. Her eyes sometimes glow this colour, and is also the colour of her EM sabers.
Nero the Sable. Nero, of course, means 'black' in Italian, but 'sable' is a word used mostly in heraldry for black backgrounds.
Weiss the Immaculate. Weiss is German for 'white' (pronounced 'vice'), and Immaculate meaning pure (as in pure white).
