Got a new one!! !

Super Metroid, in submerged areas, most notably Maridia: Samus' difficulty in turning around in midair. I know that's probably implemented in the game to provide the realism of moving around in water, which I must admit is difficult to do...
BUT MAN DOES IT SUCK!

Horribly designed UI (EVE Online, Unreal Tournament 3, any game by DEREK SMART)

I'm playing Saints Row 2. Good game but it has the worst menu interface I've ever seen. Damn, I hate consoles.

I actively like the "hide and recover health" mechanic, mind. I think it's preferable to the "run over the top of medkits and be magically fixed" mechanic.

Recovering energy by stuffing your face with food. Of course, instantly recovering with a "health pack" doesn't exactly make sense, but I'd rather see that than to see a character be like "Aw man, I'm getting shot and stabbed! I'll take a split second to eat this whole roast chicken I found inside this ancient wall, and then these guys are done for!"

I don't.

I thought it worked okay in Halo, but I finally got around to playing CoD3 (right after beating Big Red One), and it's completely awful. It totally removes the fear of "Oh, these are bullets, and explosives. These hurt me and could possibly kill me. I should avoid them." Seriously ruined the entire game for me.

Plus it doesn't make any sense. Unless you're Wolverine.

I'd love to see games use a realistic medkit system like Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, but as far as I know, that's the only game that uses it.

You actually have to find a safe place to hide and press a button, and Jack pulls stuff out of the medkit, stitches himself together, tapes gauze around his wounds, etc. And the more damage you have, the longer it takes him to patch up.

Got another one! Similar to my first rant about tricky jumpers (Super Mario, etc.), but another one I don't like is game characters whose jumps are impossible to control properly and often result in you falling back to the bottom floor and having to make your way back up the top just to fail again. I'm posting this mainly out of frustration from trying to jump with Shinobu in No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, but it also puts me in mind of some characters from PS1 games... it'll come back to me...

Randomly dying in one hit (Call of Duty: World at War: Nazi Zombies).

Dying by standing on something oddly (Half-Life 2).

Stacked teams (Left 4 Dead 2).

Team killers, hackers, random kicks, bossy players, uncooperative players, scamers, ragers, key binders, server laggers, and people who play music through their mics (All online games).

- NPC's that were thought to be funny in the start, but now you have seen them so much you actually just want to shoot them.
- NPC's that bug.
- Bugs in general
- Limited inventory space. I like to pick up and keep weird things.
- In WoW: Slow respawn time on mobs. Running around in circles just is a waste of time.
- Games where I get stuck and simply can't figure out how to get further.
- Games with toturials you can't turn off.

Ah, you've been trying to get that stupid centaur leader in the Barrens too?

And you've been playing EVE? :) (I swear, every time I get near an acceleration gate, that same stupid tutorial on how to use them starts again!)

Yes, indeed I have. And no, I don't play EVE, havent really been able to connect properly with space-games for some reason.
However I remember every time I started a new game in Black and white 2, I got the stupid starting toturial xD

-Getting killed repeatidly in one scene, then eventualy realising a simple move could have prevented my looseing all along.
-a brief and limited plot line
-limited activity
-Wanting to explore a scenery that looks interesting, but running into a barrier instead
-Not being able to use or get to power ups, and certain items the character should be able to use. I hate it when I'm about to die, and that stupid trinket is out of reach. rrg
-Graphics that don't conform to the activity, and vice versa.
-selling all my items to the wrong merchant, and looseing even more money getting it back. I just descovered that yesturday.
-my computer crashing during a winning moment.
-My game consoles breaking down

Fake 'doors' in game environments. I don't like these for some reason, because they make a 'world' feel 'fake' when you can't bust/open these, even if all you would get to see is a room filled with dusty old furniture. But it makes it feel like you are exploring a real place.

Respawning enemies. I hate this game feature. :x

'When it's done...' And it never gets done because they're always 'improving.' This happened with Duke Nukem Forever, as the developers kept scrapping rendered game levels and restarting over every time a new engine came out, to make the 'kewlest game evar!' Now the game is on 'hiatus' as they ran out of money. If they make a game, they should just get it out. They can always make a new one later. :?

Sanitized for children. This is obvious when it comes to Star Wars games when you play as a Jedi. You wield a lightsaber, but this lightsaber can only poke bloodlessly through someone or act like a big glowy club. You can almost never decapitate or sever limbs (even just bloodlessly!), even though this would be expected and realistic in that 'universe.' Thankfully, TFU2 might be rectifying this. :D

Oh yeah, now that I remember.

Everquest and warcraft alike. PvP (player vrs. ....... .....player...) has an awful lot of people that enjoy patting their egoes. What makes it worse, is that the jerk can still harass you on his alts long after you ignore them now. Anyone who playes these sorts of games knows quite well why we need an ignore list.
