Great choices everyone! Some of these are definitely going into my collection of favourites.

This game may well be the best Lucasarts adventure ever made, and its soundtrack is practically the definition of the word "manic". It's Day of the Tentacle!

Here's a little gem from Super Mario Galaxy 2. I love how it starts playful, and then takes you by surprise with an epic crescendo.

Spacechem is a puzzle game in which you must carefully program a device to build molecules. This slow-building techno-strings piece really gets the juices flowing.

No thread like this would be complete without one of the most acclaimed video game soundtracks in recent memory, Shadow of the Colossus. Covered in orchestral metal style!

World of Goo is a puzzle game with a Tim Burton feel to it. But it can be surprisingly sad and sombre. Here is the music which accompanies one of the most tragic parts of the game. (Note: only the portion up to 1:00 is actually used in-game.)

Let's chill out and snap our fingers to the beat of the cult classic, The Neverhood:

The Super Mario Galaxy series has already turned up twice in this thread, and for good reason. But here's what I think is the very best track out of both games: Buoy Base Galaxy.

And let's not forget the dignified strings of the amazing puzzle game Braid. Interesting fact: all of the music in this game is designed so that it sounds good both backwards and forwards, and at normal speed, slow speed and high speed. Why? You'll have to play the game to find out!

Search for OCRemix! They're a site centered around video game music.

Donkey Kong Country for the SNES has an awesome soundtrack and when it was released in 1994 on a 32meg cartridge, it had a lot of people including myself blown away. I also have to mention the soundtrack for Tempest 2000 which was originally released on the Atari Jaguar and programmed by a legend in his own right, Jeff Minted a.k.a. "YAK"
