Indeed, look up God of war Saga! 5 games for $40, awesome deal.
I am also looking forward to Okami HD.

FFX is my favourite RPG (not the best in the world, just my personal fav), i'm kind of excited to see the cutscenes remastered in HD.
I could never see the appeal of FInal Fantasy games...I tried playing the classic (7 and 10) and could barely play through them, for different reasons. I will list them and see if you can explain some issues I had with the games; there must be a reason they are so revered.
Final Fantasy X: the voice acting felt over the top and the characters were all quite cliche. The battles also got to a point where I became so overlevelled nothing was a threat around halfway through. The cutscenes can't be skipped and the story was completely predictable (except for Sin teleporting you to the desert, how the hell did that even work?) strange enemy designs, some characters had useless attacks (Lulu's standard attack for instance, and there's no move to recover mana if I recall, just health.) That being said I give credit where it is due: the graphics. Everything else though felt like a lame story with mediocre gameplay to me.
VII I found the time system annoying (first boss I already wa sin attack animation when he raised his tail and got screwed over since I couldn't cancel the attack), the plot was surprisingly very good, the gameplay felt very stripped down to essentials, and the PS1 graphics hurt my eyes since it was at the awkward transition from 2D to 3D...Cloud's arms always made me think of apple cores haha. The gameplay just felt lacking/annoying timed attack issues with some fights for me.

That's fine. Alot of people tend to criticize the voice acting and looking back yeah it is over the top. However the plot i found was rather interesting as with Tidus you did feel like you were being transported to another world. Usually in most RPG's your character has lived his entire life in his world yet they have to find a nonchallant way to explain very basic things. Tidus knew as much about this world as the player, it really felt like the game levelled with me. But yeah the battle system was made extremely easy, perhaps they had younger teens in mind during development?
The plot also served as an eye opener on topics like religion, while i'm sure there are other and probably better stories that involve the subject, this one just caught my interest. You can call me hopeless but i do have a soft spot for the rommance between Tidus and Yuna.
As for VII, yeah the PS1 graphics are way outdated and have not aged well. But i'm glad you agree on the plot.
bottom line: I do believe some of your points are quite valid.I'm sure that there are tons of better RPG's out there, i just happen to like that series that's all.

Knowing that grand_pilot, and how many games have been inspired by Final Fantasy with features added, would you say the game is somewhat outdated or do you think the HD remakes would be good for sales mostly?
I can't really comment on RPGs much as I only play action RPGs like Kingdoms of Amalur and Dragon's Dogma.

It's not necessarily good or bad by a sales point of view. A reason they're remastering games from (say:) PS2 into HD is because those games are easier to remaster. FFX is a fairly popular title older fans might buy it to see the gorgeous (in my humble opinion) cutscenes in HD, while attracting younger fans at the same time.
FF7 on the other hand Square Enix has stated in a press conference that it probably won't happen (much to the disappointment of fans) since the graphics are too outdated it would make it very time consuming and expensive to remake, though many fans who have been begging for a HD remake of FF7 would argue that they could repay the costs AND make a profit. Although i will admit i would buy a FF7 remake, but if they never make it i won't be sad either.

I would love to see an HD Collection of Siren 1 and 2. Siren 2 was never even released here in the US and it's considered the best in the series, so I think it would be a good idea for Sony to re-release the games here in the US with HD graphics. I love the new game Siren Blood Curse for PS3 but it really just isn't the same as the first two games.
Also an HD of Fatal Frame 1, 2, and 3 would be awesome, but since Nintendo owns the rights to the games now I don't think we'll be getting that.
