Yeah, alot per month here.

There's enough money for me to do basically whatever I happen to want at any given time, and I'm a total impulse buyer.... if it looks like something I'll enjoy, it's bought.

As it is I bought 2 yesterday, and after looking on Steam again after making a vague attempt to resist doing so, I see another one that I'll likely grab momentarily here.... There's been alot of good stuff lately.

And no, I havent played Deadly Premonition, though I've heard about it. I wouldnt be able to have a go at it, as while I have a 360, it's a Japanese unit.

I'll admit that Divinity: Original Sin actually looks quite good. Anybody played that yet?

Agreed. I just stopped playing, and couldn't finish it when I finished and replayed all four prior AC games. Black Flag is the same in my opinion, and I probably won't be getting 'Unity'.

i don't care for many of the new games, they feel the same and/or feel so repetitive that it feels like you're working more than you're having fun, just cause something is popular doesn't mean it's the best (this applies to many things in life), i'd recommend checking out some indie games or get back in to playing retro stuff, also if anyone likes shooters i'd recommend plants vs zombies garden warfare it's a lot more fun and unique than the average shooter

I'll agree with this.

I've been playing PvZ Garden Warfare alot myself, and... well, honestly, that game and Titanfall have given me renewed hope in the "shooter" genre's potential to not suck (specifically, it's potential to not be really slow-moving and filled with sniping and "cover"). I'm hoping this trend will continue with other upcoming games as well, whatever those may be.

They'll have a hard time beating these though. PvZ is really such a blast. Granted, I think there's a few balance issues (Chompers, ARGH. How in the world are you supposed to use them effectively? When you eat a zombie, you typically die a few seconds later since the "can barely move" time after chomping one is so absurdly long) but there's not too many of them, and overall the game is pretty balanced with alot of content. And I'm loving the new game modes they've added recently. Favorite classes are Sunflower for the plants, Engineer for the zombies. I only have a couple of variants unlocked, like the Mechanic for the Engineer, which is pretty great actually.

And yeah, indie games. Nearly all of what I buy/play are those. Currently mostly focused on Nuclear Throne, which I've been playing over and over and over and over and over. Just..... so damn good.

Speaking of shooters what about Metro 2033 , that ranks as one of my faves of all time , I was quite disappointed by Last Light though one of the reviewers said it does say it starts of suckie though improves latter on, so will give it another chance ?

Same here on AC3...found it dull and uninteresting. Hell, I never even made it to the first ship mission...though I plan on Gamefly-ing Black Flag, Unity and Rogue as I still love the series.

On a similar note, same problem with Zelda: Skyward Sword. I gave up at the 2nd fight against the Imprisoned. Worst boss EVER IMO, not remotely enjoyable the 1st time so why would I want to fight it again? Never mind the fact you HAVE TO FIGHT THAT POS BOSS 3 EFFING TIMES ( up to 6 times minimum depending on your luck going after the 1 shield that won't break + a Piece of Heart...more bs that makes me hate SS ). In fact, the only 2 Zelda games I hate more are Spirit Tracks and Zelda II. Why can't developers leave things alone? I don't want 8 genres in a single game ( I don't play Zelda for stealth, forced minigames or lame tear collecting filler dammit )....I don't want touch or motion controls for games like Zelda...and I don't want my time playing marred by annoying glitches and cheap bullshtako ( I can't even play Borderlands 2 anymore due to a terrible glitch they can't/won't fix ).

I loved Metro 2033! I tried Last Light recently, but gave up between halfway and 3/4 through though as I got too frustrated ( mutants get VERY cheap in later levels.... ). And I play on EASY ffs....was kind of fun early on IMO though.

I thought it was dull and kind of broken the stealth in that game was a waste of time , also it wasn't grim enough , though I am willing to give it another chance with Redux .
Funny how the YT reviewer thought otherwise that the game improved latter on

....ugh, that was a horrible trailer. I hate it when devs put that sort out. Not a BIT of gameplay shown, just vague imagery that means nothing.

And honestly, after Doom 3 (which was crap, and may as well have been a totally different series as it played NOTHING like the original games), I dont have much hope in this one.

I think the lack of innovation will kill this industry.

There tends to always be good games on the market, the main problem is that most of them are hidden gems that you really need to search for. The reason why the industry seems to be declining can be seen in the sales figures for games. The population of people buying video games has dramatically increased over the last decade. Many people buy the latest system just for the newest FPS game that they will singularly play for ages until the next ones come out. The games that hit niche crowds tend to be promoted more and thus drown out many of the other games. These niche crowds cover many of the major franchises. For example, the Super Mario games that sell the best are the games that are least innovative and simple rehash of the same old same with slight new gimmicks. Same with COD and Halo, but to a much great degree.
My policy it so wait 3 years to get the newest system, by then it normally isn't the newest, but enough people have gone through the games that you can better search for the best games.

In the early 90's I would have send yes 100 % it's so mainstream now I don't believe it's going to happen , look at Hollywood it produces the same turd sandwich again and again and again and again and again and again and again !

You overestimate people .

Gaming has been absolutely horrible lately, but Oculus RIFT will hopefully bring about a paradigm shift. Personally, I'm looking forward to Project CARS, Hellraid, and Gauntlet (in that order).
