After trading in Metal Gear Rising(which didn't seem to last as long as I thought it would), I got EDF: Insect Armageddon, Dark Souls, and Blue Dragon.
EDF doesn't seem bad at all considering what it's a sequel to, but I've recently found out that there's going to be an EDF 2025(and is already out in Japan) that looks much closer to 2017, which I think despite it's flaws is more enjoyable than Insect Armageddon.
Dark Souls has been pretty great. I was worried I would not be good at it at all, but I've managed to make some progress. It reminds me of the Metroid games, particularly Prime 2, which intimidated me a lot but was so satisfying to get through. Of course here I guess it's a bit easy to kind of find cheap ways through it. I've had help from allies for all but the tutorial boss so far - I didn't even get a chance to attack the Taurus demon before it went down, but at least it seemed more like a fair fight fight with the Bell Gargoyles and the Capra demon. Have also had one white phantom seem to try to kill himself on purpose? Have had two invasions, with one I would think would be called a "twink" among Dark Souls fans; pretty much means he deliberately stayed a low level and just got high end equipment in order to harass other players that are new to the game. He somehow turned into this lizard or dragon kind of thing and could breathe fire. I didn't stand a chance. But the other invader put up more of a fair fight. We waved and bowed and after all that silliness we actually fought. Unfortunately I accidentally got Solaire angry by hitting him and was forced to kill him, and I still lost to the invader anyway. Should have just let Solaire kill me.
I guess other reasons it might not be impossible so far are that I've been grinding a hell of a lot for levels as well as upgrading all of my weapons and armor. I also got the Drake sword which is apparently a noob weapon. Definitely feels that way, but I'm not going to use something worse just because of that. I did learn about a lightning spear you could get in Sen's Fortress but I;m a long ways from there. I do have a +5 longsword which I'm going to hold on to until I can find the stuff to upgrade it even further. I tried killing the dragon on the bridge in Undead Parish but I don't seem to be able to. I've been told that you can shoot it in the back with an arrow from the tower where the gold knight is(and killing him was a great challenge in and of itself - I think I died three or four times to him), but maybe they were talking about the PC or PS3 versions because I'm using the 360 and the draw distance doesn't seem good enough to be able to draw the dragon on the bridge from the top of the tower? The extra souls would really be nice. I don't want to go to the Depths yet, nor Blighttown.
Blue Dragon has been incredibly easy and straightfoward. Seems like it'll still be fun though and I did hear it gets harder eventually. Need to finish Lost Odyssey which is apparently by the same people. Dunno which I like more yet. I do like the music, graphics, art design, characters, and story in Lost Odyssey more so far, but Blue Dragon seems to offer a more open world and I don't mind that it doesn't take itself too seriously. I like that the combat seems more complex in LO, but in BD you can set anyone to any class which I also like due to the freedom of it. Guess I'll have to finish both and see.
