I used to have most of the (Kanto) Pokemon from the original card game, I had a few shiny ones too.

I read that the translation of HG/SS renamed Lance. They now call him Proton. I find this not only cringeworthy, but disrespectful, as the name Lance has been around as long as the name Oak.

(It could be worth noting that the character's untranslated name is still and has always been Wataru.)

I thought Lance/Proton was a b**** in Pokemon Crystal, he has 3 Dragonites around level 50, they had an enormous defense too, I battled him just now, and I'm on the ferry on the way to Kanto, I just felt like playing the game again, even though it's pretty slow compared to the generation III and IV games.

That's a different Lance than the Dragon Trainer, don't worry.

Bradleigh, when you get your Pokemon HeartGold, (I know games end up late in Australia, so I will probably get my SoulSilver first) can you give me your friend code?

I will give you mine if you give me yours, because I hope to trade the Pokemon that's impossible to get in SoulSilver with you.

I wish they kept Crystal for HG/SS. I'm not sure who the new girl is, but I don't really like her =P

I didn't notice Kris at all, she just swept by like a shooting star.

I think Crystal needs a remake too, then I will probably refrain from buying SoulSilver.

There's not going to be a Crystal remake; they integrated parts of Crystal's storyline into HG/SS.

Thanks for clearing that up. :)

I got around to teaching my Staraptor Return today. Would have done it sooner if I didn't play Platinum instead of Pearl now.
It's a good, reliable bird. Three Flying-type moves felt a bit unnecessary when I could get STAB from a Normal move as well. Return packs a big punch for such a spammable move. (The others are Brave Bird, Fly and Close Combat.)

More information has been released about the new Pokemon! I will edit this post with the info once I get back from class.

EDIT: Too lazy to type it all out right now, so click here instead.

Evil vulpix?! :o

Edit: Looks quite similar to Lucario, after all. (And Street Fighter Akuma.)
I would think that they would be rival species, if the type-advantage weren't so big.

I was thinking of an ideal for a Ice/Fighting type based on the Yeti or Wendi-go

A wendigo or Yeti would be awesome, especially if it got a bonus in a Hailstorm.

I'm also hoping Nintendo adds more to the freezing mechanic/status effect. As it stands now, being frozen means you're a sitting duck. True, the chances of being frozen are only 10%, but I'd like to see some Pokemon that can attack while frozen, or get a damage boost upon thawing out.

Flame Wheel and Flare Blitz work while frozen. They also cure the freeze when used.
