^No, unfortunately.

You should be able to if said pokemon doesn't have a name other than just it's species name, or if you got it from an event.

My Pokemon Sun team:

Hitoshi the Litten
Ryuu the Gyrados
KyuChu the Mimikyu
Coco the shiny Alolan Exegutor

I named my Gyarados in X after Haku from Spirited Away--even though it's a girl!

Heh, I named my/Laura's Mewtwo Freiza after this guy,


even though I always immagine it to be a female because Mega Mewtwo Y looks so girly to me for some reason. I like battling with her because of that.

(Alright story-wise it was Calem who named her.)
(Also, I'm having a conflict-crisis! Are the pokemon on my X card mine or Laura's? (to make things worse we have the same name! )
And are the ones from Sun mine or Mitsuko's?
This is the problem with making characters from in-game avatars to make them seem more realistic and like they fit into the game better than trying to draw a character and trying to kinda remotely recreate them in-game.)

Well, when I was playing Pokemon Pearl for the first time, I thought of my Pokemon as mine, and not as ALISSA's. [Why I named my character that, i have no idea.]

Yeah but in my head their actual people. (Please say you think of your book characters like that too so I don't feel bad... )

What's wrong with feeling weird? Weirdness is wonderful; the word weird comes from the Norse word wyrd, which refers to the magical, cosmic energy flowing through everything.

I normally say weird as a bad thing, I geuss I need to break that habit for you

It can also refer to fate or destiny [which are not the same thing, by the way].
