In your opinion what is the most over used concept, idea or tradition used in video games today?

For me its the idea that guys have to be mega masculine and the gals got to be ultra feminine, lets flip it how about a ultra feminine guy and a mega masculine gal ^_^.

That has to be:

A loves B.

B is kidnapped, transformed, married, whatever by C who also destroys the world.

A kills C and saves the day!

A gets to marry B.

Just general kidnaping of princess or female of simular importance, or mass concousness/mind that wants to destroy/control world/universe. But if you want to see a game that has some masculine women and girly guys, have you seen the game Fable 2, well in it there is a girl that looks like Heracles and in some places their are some questionable dressed men, some of which try to pick you up.

A plot I see all the time is one where a man loses his wife and kids and after being a happy family man he turns into a guy bent on vengeance. Then he basically goes and shoots a lot of people.

1. Follow the trail collecting small tokens, while killing all who get in your way.

2. Get trapped in an arena where you must kill the level boss in order to collect the big token.

3. Level up.

4. Adjust character attributes to maximise attack or defense ability, but not both.

5. Go to step 1.

Classic RPG concepts: classes, skills, elements, names, et cetera...

I had my fair share 7+ years ago!

This is more or less humor based, but...
Music without any visible source, and the characters not seeming to notice it.

Elemental temples, and you must collect the sacred object within the temple to be able to reach the final boss. I'm not sure but i think I just covered almost 3/4ths of every type of JRPG to ever be released, including the legend of zelda series.
