Wow - I just blew a lot of money today 8O . I was up 100% playing blackjack and felt absolutely fantastic but kept going and before i knew it i was close to 0. Going from an extreme high to an extreme low really messes with your mind. I felt so compelled to throw more money in the pot when I was having a losing streak. thank God the gambling site has a deposit limit. I was forced to quit and it allowed me to calm down. What a day.

Let this be a warning to you guys - never gamble. I now totally understand how gambling can become an addiction and you can lose everything. The feeling I had after losing was so scary and so depressing. I never want to go there again. :(

Yeah, I hear ya.

I lost $13 on a cruise, and I never gambled again.

Especially things like blackjack - even with perfect play the house has an advantage that will see you bereft of money over a sufficient number of hands. If it was possible to beat the house they wouldnt have the game.

Zeb said it. Generally, the only game in a casino where it's possible to have an advantage is poker. This is because you're playing against other players instead of playing against the house. However, you have to be good enough to beat the house's cut of the action as well. It takes a lot of study. I recommend never gambling for "fun".

Gambling is wrong including your own life if you catch my drift.

Gambling CAN be fun.

But you have to be able to set yourself a limit, and stick to it.

That's why I usually just stick to scratchies or bets on football.

Funny story actually, my Lions were going up against West Coast, and WC were favourites.

I put my last $5 on the Lions (My parents could have lent me money if I needed it).

The Lions won.

I had $40 to last me three days until payday.

Go Lions!

Doesn't always work that way though.

I think you can still win @ 21, but it equates to minumum wage.

I used to make a nice second-income sports betting, but that takes a disciplined and intelligent approach - its not something you do for an impulsive buzz.

It's tough to win at 21 since conspicuous spread-betting will get you booted from the table pretty quickly. But yeah, sports betting works too. But intelligent gambling is definitely a discipline. The rational, intelligent gambler's enemy is luck. The casual, recreational gambler derives pleasure from luck.

Definately , poker is the only casino game I'd consider - Im an online player but even that at low stakes is a game where half your time is spent reading, learning to spend endless time folding hands and developing the discipline to stop playing when you feel the slightest hint of upset.

I've probably spent as much on poker theory books as Ive won over the past few years, possibly more.

The most I would spend in one day in gambling would be a day at the racecourse (only once annually - the annual Golden Slipper Day at Sydney's Rosehill Racecourse).

I save a bit by watching a couple of the other races on the day without putting a bet on.

Back in my first year of uni, I must've spent over a hundred dollars fuelling a sudden addiction to Instant Scratchits. 8O

Gambling is OK when you know how to control yourself.

Like only gamble with money you can afford to lose.
