if you were in jail, and the guards offered to give you one console and one video game that you can play forever as a reward for good behaviour (assuming they will pay for dlc and replace the console/game if they break) what would you pick?

xbox 360, battlefield bad company.

PC, and Counter-Strike: Source.

Bla bla PC isn't a console, but people often neglect to consider it a gaming platform. Its always my number 1 choice.

Can you choose a PC with internet access? That way you can download roms and emulators for any console/home computer you like up to the 16 bit era and beyond.

The Xbox IS a PC... It has the platform of one...

I'd opt for an open ended game. That way, there would be something different to do. Although, I would have to choose the PC and probably Left 4 Dead. Although internet access would more than likely be denied for some obvious reasons

A PC with Aion or World of Warcraft or some other successful life-consuming MMO would be ideal if internet was available. These types of games are not normally my idea of free time well-spent, but if there was nothing left to do but play one game, I think I'd get more out of one solid MMORPG than anything else.

Is that legal? I think that will earn you some extra time.

if a game has online multiplayer you can use it, but the rest of the internet is banned.

Video game emulators are freely available under public licence. The games are Abandonware which means they are officially copyrighted but the respective software houses either no longer exist or are too interested in their current products to care about old games that have no commercial value.

Yeah, I was going to say "My GBA Micro and my flash cart." but then I thought it over ¬_¬

Though even if I only had freeware and stuff I legally own on it, it would still keep me fairly entertained.

I am not sure on how well the 360 and PS3 are with multiple players on the same console. Are there a bunch of wire running all over the place.

Maybe a Wii with Metroid Prime 3... or even SuperSmash Bros Brawl. Wii is easy to use and fun. Graphics are not all that great, but playability and enjoyment weigh more in my book.

360 controllers are all wireless...

I'm going to say:
PC and Diablo 2.

Considering its going to be my whole life, something that generates random maps would be nice.

Assuming MMOs would be a no because of the communication ability...

Yeah, I was specifically thinking of Rogue or something...though if I'm going to be in prison for a while, maybe I'd better splurge and go with the PC version instead of the GBA ports...
