This is a game I got for Christmas 2005, and as some of you may know, it was one of my most hyped games, after getting a chance to play the original on PS2 for a little bit a few months back, and playing the 2nd on a friend's Xbox a few weeks later, me not getting that game would have been a criminal offence, XD

The first thing you're gonna notice when the game gets going are the graphics, which even for the Xbox Hardware, are truly amazing. The sounds are also brilliant, especially on the guns and such

And don't forget the voice acting and storyline ^__^ I can't really put the story into words since I don't know 100% what's going on, but that's what's so great about it biggrin.gif It's up to you to find out

And don't forget the physics either! I'm serious, I've used the gravity gun on this game, LOVED IT! Combined with the Source physics, it truly is a beauty to use *Drools*

Oh yeah, and that amazing stutter bug just blows my mind every time... or the fact that you must use steam even to play offline! Wonderful!

Despite HL2's annoyances the physics bit is really impressive, I completed it months ago. Not much reason to play it after that though.

There are some very cool mods out there... Anyone try the Dystopia mod? Very cool, could be the next Tribes or Team Fortress

I absolutely love Half-Life 2 & Garry's Mod. I managed to complete it 3 times so far, and I still haven't got sick of it yet. The gravity gun, I reckon, is what makes this game the best for some random mayhem... Like throwing radiator heaters at zombies and seeing the zombie fly down flights of stairs, after being hit. And the buggy, for running over antlions.

It's a shame that the game uses Steam, though.

The actual half life 2 game, like the lost coast add on is really just to show off the new game engine for money making potential. But considering that failed publicity stunt of theirs were the source code got stolen (huh huh huh) i guess its all out there for anyone to use anyway :P

What is the new DOD like? Ive heard people say is no way near as good as even the beta versions of the original DOD?

Counterstrike source is just funny to see how all the bodies flop around everywhere and theve made all the levels look nice and fancy now. Still miss some of the old maps though.

I haven't played Day of Defeat: Source yet, but I really enjoy Counter-Strike: Source. Lost Coast, to me, is a waste of a download as it is just a fancy HDR lighting tech demo.

The original Day of Defeat, for me, was a absolute blast. You should consider getting it, if you have the original Half-Life.

I played HL2 when it first came out... I just installed it again. I've been playing CSS against bots. I was never into CS so how does one exactly get into it? I mean besides playing by myself and learning. Which is going fine, but I dont know if it is OK to just jump in some server or is that rude? Anyone else just learning the ropes that wants to laugh at each others mistakes? Send me a PM.

I have been a Half Life fan for many years now. I got so into it I began making levels for different mods. There are some great mods coming out you will want to try. I've gotten to know a lot of really good people in the Half Life community and even some game industry guys. You can really get some good inside connections.

Good HL2 mods to check out.
