2009 has been a good year for me in the world of Gaming. Dragon Age: Origins, Empire: Total War, Left 4 Dead 2, and the surprise hit for me, Tropico 3. Have been games this year which I’ve spent a large amount of time on, being my favourite games to come out this year.

However, personally I feel Dragon Age was the pick of the bunch. Only BioWare can make a game where its story absorbs me so much. But what about you, what has been your best/favourate game(s) of 2009

Is this just limited to PC Games or everything (hopes not :P) Otherwise, I would have to go with... ARMA 2, Men of War, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, Empire Total War, Europa Universalis III: Heir to the Throne, Hearts of Iron 3. My list is rather short :P.

The two games of 2009 I like the best are "New Super Mario Bros. Wii" and "Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time".

It's the first normal Mario side-scroller for a console since Super Mario World came out in 1991. Also, I think the new Ratchet & Clank for PS3 is the best game in the series. I really like how Ratchet is free to explore outer space in his ship for the first time. The graphics look amazing too.

Would you say get HttT now or wait till it goes on sale?

For me however:
ArmA 2, Killing Floor, DCS Black Shark, HOI3, and of course: Men of War.

No, not at all. :)

And Tach: is the Killing Floor good? I keep hearing good things about it but I'm still not sure if I should get it.

It's epic, I strongly suggest getting it while it's on sale.

I've heard Mario Wii isn't all that worth it and it doesn't even give the option of using the classic controller peripheral..

Dragon Age definitely for me. Felt a bit linear and EA tentacles were all over it (annoying ea account crap, paying for content :| )

Left 4 Dead 2 was fun, I really liked it but I remembered why I don't play shooters online, competitive play is full of douches and elitist jerks. The co-op play is really fun though.

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin was also quite good. It didn't feel too short, pace was good, the school part where the colour faded away and the torch stopped working and stuff jumped out of the walls at you. Not in the corny evil music then shriek and jump at you way either, rather you know its coming but you have to get through it to continue sort of dread. That part was a tad scary

Sims 3 was ok I guess. Fully EA product though, trying to get their tentacles into your wallet for content. While it really lacked any purpose or meaning it was very good at distracting me for long periods. They really got the "just 5 minutes more" urge down pat.

This year has been rather light on games though :(

The two games that come to mind that stood out the most for me this year.

Killzone 2. I loved the game. The gunplay was satisfying, the enemy A.I. was solid, the action was intense, and I'd be so bold as to say that it did a much better job at making you feel like you're in a big war than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 did.

And Uncharted 2. The first Uncharted was one of the best games I've played in a long time, so I was excited for this one. I can safely say that it does not disappoint. It kept everything that made the first one so great, while improving it, with a better story, as well as some interesting stealth mechanics. One of the best games I've played all year.

Bought it, played it, loved it! :) A great alternative to L4D. Just a pity there is no Shaun of the Dead skin and cricket bats. xD

I'd have to go with those already said. ARMAII, Dragon Age: Origins and L4D2. I wouldn't have initially thought of Men of War, but thinking back to my time playing it, it was an outstanding strategy game. It should be up there, I think.

2009 really felt light on games compared to previous years, though.

Definately Metal Gear Solid 4, though I believe that came out in 2008, can't remember XD but I would go as far to say it is the game of the decade, whereas the Original MGS (Not counting the ones on NES, I'm talking about the PS1 one) is the game of the century for me.

Game of the year for 2009, probably goes to Killzone 2 for being such a badass FPS :D

though I haven't played Dragon Age yet which I heard is bloody good, but then again RPG's aren't really my thing, except for Oblivion and Fallout 3, they were AWESOME! Oh and Mass effect is good, but I guess I like that because it didn't feel too much like an RPG
