Hitman: Codename 47 had a great soundtrack.

Awesome atmospheric soundtrack. It's a shame that none of the later Hitman games had the same kind of music as the first one.

I can't stop listening to the Forest maze theme from Super Mario RPG...

So yes, I agree.

I rarely played SMPRG, but all I can say is that I love that music!

I am kind of obsessed with the overworld theme from Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Can't stop listening to it, and I don't normally like to listen to NES music!

The music is easily worth the pain of the excessive difficulty from the game. :D

I always thought that Silent Hill had some of the BEST atmospheric music.

And yes, these are actual songs from the games.

I played that game all the time. It took me 3 years to beat it, and that was with a Game Genie.

Any of the song off of Ecco and Ecco 2 The tides of Time for sega genesis. THey changed the music when they ported it to segacd. Vector man for genesis has good music to. And of course Castlevania IV for SNES

I'm fond of the music score from the original Unreal. The music files were MOD tracker and they aren't playable by any mainstream media player other than winamp.

I love the POKEY sound chip from the Atari 8-bits and have the whole library of tunes on my harddisk. You can download the whole lot from hear, along with a suitable player.

Modern-day gaming? I'd say Morrowind was a personal favourite, as was the soundtrack from Vampire:Bloodlines (a great mix of existing tunes and custom written). If I can count games made up almost entirely of licensed tunes, then I'd also include GTA:Vice City for it's stylish 80s soundtrack.

Usually, the same game music plays in the radio in my head all day, but it changes each day, but for the past few days, it played the exact same music, like it is still right now! It's been 3 (or 4?) days now:
