Idk what to say but I don't think the graphics can get any better the only thing left is to make the disc data smaller so that more will fit into the games and the environment will interact with you more as well as the misc detail that you don't get.

The Interface sure will will be diff & the usage of the console... I'm not going to say much but I think you all know what I mean.

I think the next gen of consoles will move towards downloadable content (instead of discs) and away from standard controllers. Also a big part of those consoles will probably be based on the online social aspect. Xbox live and ps3 (Home or whatever it's called) have already taken big steps in that direction but I think it will really be at the center of everything for the next gen. Also I wouldn't be surprised if those consoles had at least some 3d support. (like the 3d you see when you watch movies with those red and blue glasses).

yea but very little in that case cause the stuff that we see to day is good but it cant go much further and if it can we are going to need a whole new definition for what REAL looks like

*Checks topic title.*
What about Nintendo? Some may disregard the Wii, but that's where third-party support is shifting to. (It was largely unsupported before because publishers have to predict the market from 3 years off, and they didn't expect such success out of the Wii.)
Sony and Microsoft have introduced new motion-based control schemes to compete with Nintendo and each other. (Can't let the other get ahead.) Their motion controls, however, will be gimmicks, since their systems have well-established standard controllers.
Nintendo has an established motion-based controller, and will likely continue to dominate that market.

It's sort of like the fifth generation in the extreme. Nintendo introduces something cool (analog then, motion now), and the other two have to copy it. This time, though, the copy involves ditching the old setup entirely, causing low initial adoption. The other difference in this case is that the innovative system is on top. (And will stay there.)

Yes That is true and its not that were leaving Nintendo out it just there isn't much going around with Nintendo yet but I do agree with what you said above.
I believe Nintendo holds the true future of gaming when it comes down to the tiny and overlooked facts.

Xbox 720 controllers maybe not. I would hope so, but looks ify. PS4 will definitely have controller support. Both will feature new motion controls and voice recognition. As both Natal and the new PS Motion stuff will support.

There will be a disc format for them as well. Its probally the last physical generation though with discs. Likely PS4 will have Blu-Ray and its possible Microsoft will support the upcoming HVD format as it also supports Blu-Ray so playing Blu-Ray movies will be optional.

There is also OTOY, Playcast, OnLive, GaiKai in the works along with a few other All Streaming games services. Most said they are more than happy to partner with someone. OTOY likely since working with AMD and AMD in in green light of Microsoft with rumors of AMD grabbing the bid for the next Xbox GPU. Its possible OTOY will be supported from launch of Xbox 720. There are some demo videos with Crysis and Left 4 Dead being played with Xbox 360 controllers on Youtube with OTOY.

Yea This is most likely the final Gen for Sony & Microsoft. Nintendo on the other hand has a few tricks they are going to pull before they call it final

You can theorically get a higher polygons count, but it will be harder and harder to notice the differences. There is also that the games get more costly as the graphics get better. That's why the DS is so popular among the developers, making game for it don't cost much.

The next generation is likely to be the last. As the graphical evolution coming to a end, your average home PC will soon be able to play any game. With a amazing retro-compatibility(emulators) and less dependence from the compagny. What will be the interest of buying a console then?

There is that settop box thing coming out as well, downloads games. From the review I read they said it was rather impressive.

Nintendo wont be going anywhere anytime soon. They have been rather good at finding ways to keep themselves in business. Mario alone is far to popular for them to be going anywhere. Considering for a good 10 years or more gamers lived on Mario.

Microsoft and Sony may have some problems since they fail at video games. PCs are just getting to cheap for consoles to be worth it.

In the not to distant future we are going to have CPUs with a lot of cores and programs set up to use them to their full power. Solid State Drives are coming down in price fast which is another thing that is going to be a nice jump in performance. Sure consoles can use all that stuff too but why buy something that only plays games and maybe some movies when I can buy a computer that does everything, is upgrade able and doesnt cost as much?

Nintendo Will last a LONG time.

The games for DS are cheaper and yes good because Nintendo knows that graphics arnt what makes a good game its how playable it is and all.

GTA didn't have much in the way of graphics with it's top down 3D view. But it's how it did it which made it more involving. I took to the controls easily as I played a game which had a similar layout where forward = FORWARD and not up regardless of position.

My friends couldn't understand how I took to it so well (the demo) But I knew I wanted it.

A game without graphics has to have playability attached to it. Something to keep the player coming back. I'd like to see MS come up with a reliable console, I'd like to see the Playstation4 ave backward compatibility for everything PSX about it.
