So I have the 40 GB model, I've downloaded like 3 games from PSN and now everytime I try to play something it says I need to free more space in the HDD. Is this a joke ? Actually if I check in system settings it says space is almost over but that sounds ridiculous. How do I free space ? Can I add external memory ? Is it just better to sell on ebay and buy the 250 GB one ? There are some good games I want to play, but in terms of user-friendly I find the PS3 awful, menus are hard to read, and everything is very unclear.

Considering how many games need to do a hardware install, on top of any demos or downloaded games you want, the 40GB hard drive is just not enough any more. Which is why the slim's have so much more memory. I ended up having to give up and gift my 40GB model to a family that wasn't really into gaming other than Rock Band. And I bought myself a slim.

You don't have to buy a new ps3 to get more hard drive space. There's an easy way to upgrade your hard drive.

Here, follow this link. I'm going to replace my 80GB for a 320GB lol.
