I play this game on my 360 a lot, by far I think that it's the best game in the fallout series :D

Are you excited about Fallout: New Vegas?

It's better on the PC, though. Mods.

I had it originally on PS3 and it was playable up to a point... then the entire console would lock up and I'd be forced to do hard resets of it. Not sure if the XBOX 360 had similar issues or not though.

Anyway, PC is definitely the way to go for this game, if not for the tons of mods, then at least tweaking the game's engine to run better(and having access to the console to fix bugs as they happen).

I don't think you can compare FO3 with Fallouts 1 and 2, either. They're just too different, gameplay-wise. I like them all, but for very different reasons.

Im not sure did Bethesda make FO1 and FO2? Cuz it seems like they just picked up the game and made it in their image (not that thats a bad thing :) )

No, they didn't. In rough chronological order and grouped by developer:

Wasteland (1988, Wasteland team)
Fountain of Dreams (1990, not Wasteland team)

Fallout (1997, Black Isle/Interplay)
Fallout 2 (1998, Black Isle/Interplay)
Fallout 3 "Van Buren" (cancelled 2003, Black Isle/Interplay)

Fallout Tactics (2001, Micro Forté)

Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel (2004, Interplay)

Fallout 3 (2008, Bethesda)
Operation Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, Point Lookout, Mothership Zeta, expansions to Fallout 3 (2009, Bethesda)
Fallout: New Vegas (2010, Obsidian, some of whom are from Black Isle/Bethesda)
Fallout 4 (in development, Bethesda)

The canonicity of the different games is somewhat disputed. There are some big inconsistencies between them.

They certainly didn't make the first two. Black Isle, of Planescape: Torment fame, made them.

I may have missed some - I seem to remember hearing that there was also going to be a 2d Fallout 3 made immediately after Fallout 2, which got canned quickly, then there was Van Buren which also got canned and then there was the Fallout 3 we know and love/hate*.

Wasteland is pretty cool if you wanna see the inspiration for the whole series. The combat is funny. :)

*delete as applicable.

I have the PS3 version as well and had the same situations with mine. That PS3 version is the worst of them.

Only the main three are worthwhile. Fallout 1 and 2 are (sort of) direct sequels, so I'd advise picking them both up if you want to try them.
