I've played through most of the adventure games everybody's mentioned (Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Longest Journey, Beneath a Steel Sky, even the Chzo Mythos, many others).

Can anyone recommend any more? Commercial and indie all good.

Heavy Rain, exclusive for PS3, but the experience was... harrowing. Easily the best adventure game I've played in a long time, if ever.

If you don't have a PS3 Indigo Prophecy was made by the same people who made Heavy Rain, I haven't played it yet but hear it's awesome.

Heavy Rain for PS3 is excellent, not only in its storytelling but its interface.

Other good adventure games I can think of include Broken Sword, Full Throttle, and The Dig. I am currently playing through Beneath A Steel Sky.

I tried getting into Monkey Island. Everyone says it is hilarious. But it just seemed lame and juvenile to me, though I only played it for about ten minutes.

The Broken Sword series is my personal fav. The first one is the best (it is also known as Circle of Blood)

Icom's Macventure games (Deja Vu, Deja Vu II, Shadowgate, Uninvited).

Unfortunately, if you want to play the superior versions of the games, you'll need to figure out how to get them running on an old 2-color Macintosh Pro, or I guess the Apple ][GS versions aren't too shabby if you have to have color graphics.
