I ordered Fallout 3 online on Friday. Since then I've had horrible anxiety feelings, due to the anticipation of receiving the game. It seems stupid and childish but I guess I have nothing else in my life that's exciting enough to keep me occupied until it arrives. I get this feeling every time I order a game, and sometimes when I order other things, depending on what they are.

Even more stupid is that, although the anxious feeling goes away, I don't feel much happiness or satisfaction when the game does arrive. I remember when I played the demo for Just Cause 2. I loved it and really wanted the full game. I pre-ordered it on Amazon and I got this anxious feeling again. When it did finally come, I played it and liked it and stuff but it didn't seem like it was worth getting so anxious over, or that it was worth the money that I payed. (Usually I buy used games).

I guess after I get Fallout 3 I'll probably play it and like it, but it won't be like the most awesome thing I've ever done, and I'll feel silly for getting so anxious over it.

I'm going a little off topic, mainly I'm just asking if you get anticipation anxiety while waiting for a game you've ordered. Or maybe while you're waiting for a game to be released. :)

I wouldn't say I get "horrible feelings of anxiety" but I do get a bit obsessed and impatient... like I am right now, waiting for Fallout: New Vegas to ship!

PS

Playing Fallout 3 will be the most awesome thing you've ever done.*

*Until you play Fallout: New Vegas. :P

Hehe. I think I'll have to wait a while before getting New Vegas. It seems like the kind of game which will stay expensive for a long time. :)

Reminds me of last month I was waiting for my mother to pick up Halo Reach, it was something I really wanted, and since I could give no other Ideas for a birthday present (my Birthday is September 10th) I was getting quite anxious to play it from my Birthday waiting for the release on the 13th which was a monday. But she kept putting off going to pick it up until that thursday afternoon, which I knew I would not get much time due to a busy weekend.

I have been getting a bit anxious now that I know that some good games are getting released soon, so I am kind of restricting myself from finding out their release dates so that I don't get too anxies for their release. But upon seeing some trailers and videos of games like Fable 3, Fallout New Vegas and Bioshock Infinite, I get a big desire to get them, mostly I settle with finding out what information I can about them on various wiki sites and looking them up on yourtube. Actually I tried to have a go at some xbox live playing, I realised my total games pretty suck and dated, and I started wanting to go buy some new ones, I am hoping to get some new soon because of it.

Though I also try to destract myself with anime, and as it is I am already anxies about anime releases.

The trick to removing the anxiety, at least for me was to quit preordering and force myself to wait till it was either available for download on steam or I could see it physically sitting on the store shelf.

Hehe happens to me every time I order a game off the internet or pre-order something I'm heavily anticipating. I've learned that if I can help it, it helps to buy the game in a store if you can so you don't have to wait as long to play it (It's just a matter of waiting to reach the store). If it's a pre-order... well that's where I even don't know what to do. I generally have to play a game I love to pass the time until then and even then it feels like the time grinds so slowly.

In the case of far out pre-orders like Dragon Age 2 (February or March 2011)... I just have to keep telling myself it won't be as good as it will be :)

I normally just get impatient. My wait for Halo: Reach seemed like a year, even though I only had it preordered for about a month . I hate ordering games online because they never seem to get delivered on time. I always worry that it was delivered to the wrong address, or someone stole it.

Everybody gets excited, it's called MARKETING. Hyping people to camp in front of stores, waiting for the latest product. I think it's nothing wrong with it, just try to stay frosty. Time will pass quicker if don't have it on your mind.

I do however get obsessed when i actually own the game. GT5 in a month will be one such example, i know it.

No, I wait until the game comes out, and the price drops down to where I can afford it. ( which takes several months after the release )

I've had Fallout 3 for a week now. This time, however, I don't feel like it wasn't worth getting so anxious over. I love this game, it's so awesomes! And there's so much to do, I've finished the main story quests and lots of the side quests and DLC quests. It feels like I've done loads and I've not even done half of them yet! This may be my new favourite game.

I'm looking forward to New Vegas too, that should be ever more awesome, right? :)

Usually I will get the games months after they are released except for Pokemon. That is the only franchise that I get excited over, when I was waiting for Black and White to come out in Japan so that I could get info about Team Plasma and stuff... well... yeah... I was checking every minute on Serebii and other sites and the like for the slightest bit of information.
