Letter I sent in to Gameinformer (What do you guys think?)
Dear Gameinformer, I just thought I’d make note of a major issue that has been plaguing gaming and bothering me for years that resurfaced in the readers vote best Zelda section in issue 211, One person wrote that the original Legend Of Zelda would have to be the best game solely due to the fact that it started the franchise… Quite frankly, that makes absolutely zero sense. I mean yes I believe we should remember the game that spawned one of the greatest video game franchises ever (along with every other first game in a great series) but to call it the best in the entire series just makes you look stupid. I mean sure the original Zelda was a great game but you can’t honestly say it was a better game than A Link To The Past or Ocarina Of Time. I mean if we went around using that logic with every game series you would be saying that the original Street Fighter was a better game than Street Fighter 2, or that the original Final Fantasy was a better game then Final Fantasy 6 or 7. I’m all for looking back at past games in a good light, but the point of a game franchise is to try and make each game better than the next and more often than not, that will happen. People need to stop saying the original game is best just because it started it all.
I'm hoping it will get Letter Of The Month .
When did you send this in and what was your pen name?
I'm asking because I also subscribe to GameInformer through my Gamestop EDGE card. I'll keep an eye out for you in next issue.

Most people on earth have seriously poor judgement, 99% of the people's brain = s**t.
I don't read Game Informer as my subscription gets sent to my father's address (by the time I get them from him I get a stack of many month old magazines), but I think you have a point. A game isn't the best because it was the start of a good series. I guess it deserves some sort of honors for creating a series, but the logic behind it being the best because it's the first doesn't make sense There are however certain cases where the first game is the best though... just saying
