Yeah, I know this is a bit of a weird topic, but I decided to make it anyway. What, for you, are the best speeches/monologues/long bits of dialogue that you've ever heard in a video game?

Here are my three picks. And yes, these are some easy ones.

The Salarian recon team's Held the Line speech on planet Virmire from Mass Effect. First one to come to mind, really.

AI Colonel's final radio call at the end of MGS2, before the fight with Solidus. Not sure if it's more of an intellectual discussion on Meme Theory, or a rant against 4chan. Probably both.

EVA's revelation about the Boss at the end of MGS3. It was heartwrenching the first time I heard it.

Big Boss's final conversation with Snake at the end of MGS4, where he proves he's a Patriot by blathering on as long as the AI Colonel.

Not really a speech, but Dante and Agnus's conversation in the later half of Devil May Cry 4, where they have a serious philosophical discussion on God and Hell. In Shakespearian, for some reason.

Anything from No More Heroes or Conker's Bad Fur Day.

The opening speech from General Shepard in Modern Warfare 2. The one where he says, "History is always told by the victors. Now is a time for heroes". Another powerful speech is the one told by the Ten Wise Men to Claude in Star Ocean: The Second Story just before they kill his family and destroy the spaceship Calnus.

If what you're looking for is a plain out all-around memorable scene from gaming history, consider the scene where Sephiroth kills Aerith as she is praying in Final Fantasy VII, or where Jim Raynor leaves Sarah Kerrigan to be transformed into the Queen Of Blades by the Zerg.

I've always loved "Boo is a minature giant space hamster" and "Go for the eyes Boo, Rahhh" by Minsc in Baldur's Gate. Ok perhaps not speeches but it always makes me smile.

In the first Mass Effect, if your Shepard is Earthborn, he/she will at one point run into a member of his/her old gang, the Tenth Street Reds, aboard the Citadel. He's there trying to get another gang member out of turian custody, and asks for your help, so you go into the bar to talk with the turian guard. One of the possible dialog trees:

SHEPARD: You're holding a human prisoner. I want him released.

TURIAN: I want lots of things, human. Desire forms the basis of structured society. That being said, the xenophobe is remaining in custody.

You will eventually learn that what the gang member did was to try to poison medical supplies bound for a turian colony. Assuming you decide at that point to leave him to his fate, the gang member you met outside will come in and threaten to expose your past. Another potential dialog tree!

GANG MEMBER: I bet all your alien friends won't like you so much when they learn you used to run with the Reds!

SHEPARD: I'm a Spectre. I can legally execute everyone in this bar. You think I care what a bunch of aliens think?

TURIAN: Shepard overcame a troubled past to lead a distinguished military career. I can assure you that no turian would think any less of him[her]. And I doubt your lies would impress the salarians or the asari.

One possible dialog tree ends with you shooting the gang member. Afterward, the turian says, "Impressive. Perhaps our human Spectre won't prove to be a disappointment after all."
