Have any of you ever played the Sims 3 and noticed the one rug looks just like the Autism Awareness puzzle ? Whenever I look at it, I think of it ..

It's actually a very common and popular foam rubber mat designed for children's playrooms. I have one at home myself.

This might have been something I created. Made it once when the game was first released and I didn't know how to upload anything. It was just a red wood square. Noticed the mistake almost one year later at which time I believe I corrected it. But I can no longer find it any where.

Well if I responsible for it you can be sure the it was deliberate. It's nice to see someone using it in their game.

[quote]I LOVE THIS GAME

So do I. Maybe it's my subsitute for living, breathing people.

Have you ever uploaded anything to the Exchange. I have. Most of the stuff is just re-coloring furniture, clothes. I have tried creating a Sim and I think they look quite realistic. But hardly anyone downloaded them. Even though I am an Aspie it still wonderful to know that people admire the things I created. Just like Sally Field said when she won the Academy Award for best actress "You like me!! You really like me!!"

Two of my uploads were picked as a featured item. And both times it was when there was a problem with the Exchange. The first time it wasn't updated for 3 or 4 weeks, the second time which was just this past December it lasted about 2 1/2 weeks. Somehow I get that feeling if it was working my items wouldn't have been chosen. Not once but twice and with the number of items that are uploaded on a daily basis! Just too weird. Sorry to say that I don't think the first item actually deserved the honor.

I am capable of writing/talking about this game for hours. I am just fascinated with all the things that someone can possibly do with this game. It's more than just controlling fake people. There's creating houses, people, making movies, and stories. If you were to look at all the games in all those different countries you would see that each game is very different than the others.

Thanks for your comment. :D irene

My "thing" as a child was designing houses, reams and reams of paper, stacked in piles all with floor plans on them, so as you can no doubt guess that this is one of my favourite games. I don't have much interest in the actual game play but I spend lots of time just designing homes. I dream of the day I'm in a position where I can build my own dream home. :)

That's something that I am really interested in learning. I love to see old, beautiful houses. Recently I did upload a house to the Sims 3 website. Creating the building/house wasn't as difficult as the floor plan especially since it's a very small house. If it was bigger I would have had a lot of difficulty finishing it.

I've got lots of questions to ask you. The first one is are the houses designed from your imagination, or are they based on pictures, floor plans that you find in books or the internet? I have seen some absolutely beautiful houses on that website and wish that I was able to create them as well. So far my skills are limited to just recoloring objects, clothes, etc.

Most are my own designs though there are occasions when I want to recreate a house I've seen whether driving past, or on the internet/TV. My own designs do often follow very specific patterns because they are all places I would like to live, though I like to push my boundaries sometimes and create a home i would probably never live in but that I still find beautiful.

I like my houses to be practical and fairly traditional, I adore sprawling American style wood framed houses and classic Georgian houses. I can spend hours getting each house just right though once the walls are up and the roof on, I don't spend as much time on décor and furnishings. It's not that I'm not interested in those things, it's that I'm just very neutral and specific in my tastes so it's really quick to cover the walls and floor in my preferred colours. I tend to use the same furniture in every house because it has to be stuff I'd put in my own house, and I have to make sure all my textures match throughout the house or it annoys me ;)

This is an obsession for me, my family hates when I go into what they call "Sims Mode" and they lose me for a week or two, but it keeps me sane and they understand that :)

I've never uploaded anything to share, it doesn't even cross my mind to do so.

I would love to see what you have created for the game. Would you reconsider uploading your creations to the Exchange? Please?

One of my hobbies in life is to see beautiful houses/buldings. My favorites are those that are at least 100 years old. The newer larger houses they have been building lately look pretty bad. It's easy to see that they tried to copy a design but failed because they used cheap looking windows, doors. All the beautiful details, probably hand crafted, were eliminatined. They look soulless. Very sad.

I can understand using the same furniture. For myself I like only particular pieces and my taste rarely changes.

Have you seen the houses on the Sims 3 website? Some of them are absolutely beautiful to see. Some of them actually make game play difficult because the house is so huge.

I hope you change your mind and decide to allow other people to see your craftmanship. Please let me know if you do so that I would know to look for them.

Frequently I feel as though I am, probably, the only Aspie uploading anything to the website.

I will absolutely let you know if i decide to upload any :)

I completely agree on you on the old versus new. I've lived in 2 new build homes and while they were well designed and very practical, they were cold and soulless. A few years back I couldn't handle my new build any more so we sold up and bought a very traditional late Victorian end of terrace house (these can be found all over England, but the ones where I live run a little larger than the average). It was in a real mess when we moved it, but we finally got there and managed to bring it back to life. It's not a big house, especially by US standards but it has lovely high ceilings and original Victorian features and it is a pleasure to live in, the only thing I wish we had was more than one bathroom :D

I know a lot of aspies don't like moving home but I love it, probably because of my obsession with houses ;) I've lived in over 30 different houses in 43 years, and I know I'll move at least a few more times before I find my perfect home.
