The Good Karma ending (with activating the purifier and not putting the FEV) actually made me cry in Fallout 3. I know, it's weird, but I just wanted to know if I was alone...

Um no i was mad at such a terrible ending to such a good game. You don't make a closed ending to a sandbox game, it's just stupid. Thankfully with the expansion they at least keep you alive. Terrible story, horrendous ending, wonderful game.

I have to kind of agree with this I'm afraid. Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing game, but I was mad at the ending because I couldn't continue afterwards. Sure Broken Steel changed that, but I finished it nearly half a year before that came out.

I did not cry, but I thought the ending was powerful and challenging in contrast to overall story, which was trite, silly and dull.

I really despised the resurrection in broken steel and lost all respect for the creative team.

Fallout is about story and provoking thought… at least the original series was. I know many of the new fans do not care/get that.

I think a better solution for sandboxers would have been to include a non-story mode… I mean, a sandbox does not need a story, right?

That way, the sandbox fans could have their extended play without destroying the integrity of the story, such as it was.

It was maddening. Especially when not five feet away is a character who could go into that chamber and enter that code no problem. That's just bad writing. I realize the message Bethesda was going for with this but can't stand when it's done in such a forced and artificial manner. They need to hire a script supervisor next time.
