for those of you who don't know, touhou project is a series of games created by one guy who calls himself ZUN. it's a series of bullet hell(danmaku) games with the majority of the cast being female(basically lolis with superpowers).

it's known for its killer music and spectacular displays of power from the girls. it has a HUGE fan following in japan and is picking up steam here in the west.

here's one display of the fans' devotion to the series:

the girl in the green skirt with wings and the huge arm cannon is a yatagarasu/hell raven named utsuho reiuji, who has the power of nuclear fusion. the girl in the red and white is reimu hakurei, one of the protagonists of the series. she's a human shrine maiden with the power of flight and a yin yang orb that has interesting but useless powers(it can be disguised as a cat, it can give off one of your favorite aromas and you can eat a lot of sweets and not gain weight)

bottom line: touhou project is awesome and feel free to join if you like the series or are curious

EDIT: damn! i wanted to add a fifth option to the poll

I've been playing the games for about 2 years, starting with Perfect Cherry Blossom and slowly moving on to the others. I'm also grateful for the community efforts at making the English patches, humor and those super awesome replays I just can't imitate. At the moment, I'm trying to practice stages on Hard and Lunatic on Mountain of Faith and with other shot types as well.

Speaking of bullet hell, the last games I purchased were Muchi Muchi Pork! & Pink Sweets and Mushihimesama Futari. But I've never heard of Touhou Project before.

I am so bad at these games, yet they are so much fun. T_T I end up playing for so long in a sitting that when I close my eyes I see multicolored bullets. XD

I'm better at the Touhou fighting games, especially as Patchouli Knowledge or Sakuya Izayoi. I've lost maybe only once while playing with one of my friends, but he spams melee attacks and I was playing with Suika, whom I'm not very good with.

I kind of wish he wouldn't be so cheap, as the true beauty of Touhou is being able to 1cc the game on Lunatic, like I can with some modes of Scarlet Weather Rhapsody.

Suck at the danmaku though - I have Great Fairy Wars and Double Spoiler, and I can't get far in either. Though, I'm kind of good at the early parts of Double Spoiler. Not that that's anything to brag about.

Haven't played in a year because my comp is a bit crappy.
I enjoy the flow. It's pleasant.
