Post your favorite free PC/Console/Handheld games in this thread. :)
(Must actually be free - no torrents, cracks, etc...)
Just include some information, maybe a picture of video, and a link to where you can get it.

I'll go first...

Battlezone
-PC game
-Released in 1998
-RTS/FPS Hybrid

Good idea :)

Here are all (I think) of the free games available on Steam.

http://store.steampowered.com/genre/Free%20to%20Play/

The majority are MMO's so you'll need to go through a sign-up process for those.
Anyways, the character creation on Champions Online is incredible!

Black Prophecy - action MMO/space fight simulator

Ace of spades - FPS like minecraft, with guns, active fanbase and updates.

minecraft barebones version

World Of Tanks - tactical action, real time 3d, quite original.

I'm big into f2P.

Meh, these are all MMO's but...

-Furcadia (RPG and coding based)
-Mabinogi
-Runes of Magic ('sposed to be a lot like WoW)
-Eternal Lands (you can help with its development last I saw)
-Shaiya
-DDO
-Forsaken World
-Perfect World
-KalOnline (if the servers are working anymore -_-')
-Florensia - yay cute pirates!
-Tales of Pirates - more cute pirates?
-Tales of Pirates 2 - enough cute pirates...
-Maplestory

Some include pay-for-extra option features. Mabinogi is the worst in this. There are a lot more decent ones... but I'm bored now.

Although I've played a few freeware games a few years ago, I can't remember what they're called. However, currently I am enjoying the demo versions of Sol Survivor and Call of Jaurez Bound In Blood.

You don't need Steam for Champions Online either; you can download the client directly from Cryptic Software. And yes, the character creation is something else - to the point that every so often, I'll delete one of my old characters just so I can make a new one. I'm trying to curb that tendency, but...

My favorite favorite is probably Rogue, though I'm not sure if it's actually freeware or not...

How about Spelunky? It's like Nethack meets platformers. Randomly generated levels, challenging, and tons of fun.

http://www.spelunkyworld.com/

Just as an aside, though. This game is not for the easily frustrated. You get one life that must last you through 16 levels and a boss. If you die, you start from the beginning. You shouldn't expect to win very often.

Aaand, a few hours after posting this I deleted Void and created Coldsnap... :)
