Anyone play?

I'm getting back into it.

Wasn't it pretty terrible? I heard they made it free to play for everyone because it wasn't even finished when they released it.

I heard it was by far the worst numbered Final Fantasy in the main series. At this point, I pretty much have lost all hope in this series.

Type-O and Versus are looking good. XIII-2 looks okay, though salvaging the trainwreck that was the first game will be difficult.

I have faith.

When FFXI started off, it was crap.

I'm just crafting in FFXIV. So much as changed in that game that I don't feel comfortable playing any melee or mage classes until they fix the "Party" function.

FFXIII was horrible, not expecting much out of XIII-2 or FFXIV. Honestly think it's time to wrap up Final Fantasy if they are going to decrease the quality of it all. :(

I know everyone else absolutely hates it for some reason, but I cannot deny that the visuals and cutscenes on FFXIII were absolutely phenomenal, regardless of the other parts of the game.

Anywho after reading the latest announcement. It looks like FFXIV is ready to be launched on the ps3. Subscriptions to resume on Nov-Dec. I'm guessing they have big plans for patch 2.0.

I have the game on my computer, but I seldom play it, if at all. When it initially came out, I was very excited over what was promised by Square Enix, but found it to be a huge disappointment (Potentially the largest amount of sheer disappointment in any game I've been excited about.)

I decided to give it another go after the latest patch, but it seems to be the same thing. (They removed physical levels, allow you to save up Guild leve uses and added Chocobos.) The core gameplay mechanics, however, remain the same, as do the clearly copied and pasted environments. There are a few plus sides though. The community is friendly, but some are ravenous Square Enix fans and any attempt to offer constructive criticism of the game will be met with venom.

Best PS3 graphics I've seen so far. I really enjoyed playing through FFXIII for this reason mainly. By the way the best PS2 graphics I've seen is Kingdom Hearts 2 which is made by the same company of course.

It was alright. Wasn't really impressed with the overall artstyle. Most of the monsters looked really strange (esp. Goblins on Pulse).

I see they're still making weird design choices in XIII-2. Have a look at Noel's (new main character..) sword. The scabbard (is that what they're called?) is attached to the blade, in such a way that means the sword can no longer cut through anything... weird.

Kinda sucks that the FF series is going downhill. I wouldn't mind so much but there's really nothing else to replace it on PS3..

@ComradeKael: What was the main problem with XIV anyway, was it lack of content or just really bad gameplay? Kind of strange that they haven't improved the gameplay that much before the 're-release'. I guess it doesn't matter... I don't have any desire to play something like an MMO. Don't have the time or energy for something like that. Prefer my games to be story/character driven anyhow.

Both. The gameplay is really sluggish and laggy and there isn't a lot to do besides Leves and pure grinding. Leves are like "quest" in other MMOs, but there's a daily cap on how many leves you can do. They added a few dungeons recently, but finding a party for one is nearly impossible.

I can't believe how much of my life I've wasted with FF games. With the exception of 9 they all suck after 5. And yes, this includes the overrated 6 and 7. In spite of the fantastic worlds they take place in, these games are just too EASY and even a six-year-old should be able to get through them with no trouble.

If you want to play a REAL role-playing game series, go with Dragon Quest. Once you play you'll never go back.
