Don't listen to me, read the reviews:
The next level

Of the four hundred thousand copies sold in the last few weeks, can I be the only one posting here?

This is as much an RPG as "The Man From Nantucket" is an epic poem.

Eh, I heard mixed reviews about it. I'm personally more interested in the new Deus Ex or Mass Effect coming out later in the year.

The witcher the best rpg? In my opinion, TES is much more complex and intriguing, Morrowind being the best game in the series, followed by Daggerfall and then Oblivion, looking forward to Skyrim! 11/11/11

Hmm, well, the Witcher was rubbish. It's interesting to see the review says they've realised that and addressed the problems, but it's not enough to make me trust them; I might get 2 when the inevitable Steam special offer comes round.

i stopped playing after act 1. well, i had to for RSI reasons. but imo there was just too much plot to focus on, seemingly loads of countries and rulers with funny names etc. It felt like trying to get a hold on the earths geopolitical climate when youve switched on the news for the first time. I felt myself going through the motions - go talk to this person - without having a clear idea of why i was doing it.

The first game, for its faults had a fantastic atmosphere, and its slavic charm really stood out as being something special and unique. And it introduced me to the source material.

Id rather read the books first really. unfortunately at the current rate of translation it could be literally decades before the last one is available in english.

That makes no sense, since The Witcher 2 is definitely an RPG... What is your argument that it's not? Or are you just trolling?

I played The Witcher 2 and beat it, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The only problems I had with it that it was too short, which in turn made the alchemy quite useless. I crafted and consumed a total of 10 or 15 potions throughout the game. I love the idea of making potions, but there was just no reason to do it. If I play it again, I'd play it on a higher difficulty, and be sure to do more sidequests. I did all the sidequests in chapter 1, but I didn't come across a single one in chapter 2; maybe I just didn't look hard enough.

But I am very much looking forward to Skyrim, it looks awesome. 8) I put well over 100 hours into Oblivion, and am ashamed to say that I never finished the main story; only did sidequests and whatnot. I loved the Thieve's Guild and Dark Brotherhood storylines, those were super fun.

I have yet to finish The Witcher. When I get around to finishing it I might get the Witcher 2. It does look beautiful, much better visually than the upcoming Skyrim, but I'm more interested in the gameplay of Skyrim. You expect that a massive open world game with its huge draw distance isn't going to be able to look as good as a smaller scale world such as the Witcher 2's.

I was speaking of the Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. I'm playing very slowly, because there are points in the game where it's a little but tricky for an old codger like me.

hmm the witcher 2 is a very cinematic game and it works great, expecially compared to number 1.(quick impression see below)

that being said it quickly felt repetitive so i havent gone far past the first chapter, just killed the kraken thingie.

lol. I haven't bothered to complete the oblivion story either. I was well over 1000 hours into morrowind before I ended up beating that one though, so I guess it works out.

Thief's Guild quests were good, but nothing beats the Dark Brotherhood and Arena :-)

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Tales of Vesperia or Eternal Sonata.
