customizing my psp

i remember i did a topic about the psn and console hacking, well truth is i have been debating about putting custom firmware on my psp for years now, ever since i had heard of it, i keep seeing all this stuff that people with cfw can do that i can't, but my two are upgraded to 6.60, i found a downgrader but... i want to know the chances of my psp dying from doing this. i don't have a pandora battery so if i screw up it dies.

but i'm not the kind that is paitent, when i feel like doing something i do it then and there. so i'm not going to wait for a new battery to get shipped here, besides the damn fedex takes bloody forever, and they usually sit at this one town all the time leetsdale. i track everything i buy and they often sit at this town for days, it's a hop skip and a jump from my house and they drive all the way to ohio before here. pisses me off big time.

i honestly get more stress from shipping things then from getting sleep deprived.

this is the main reason i hate buying stuff online, but i have a parinoa about signing my name when i use my credit card in stores, that and all the stuff i want to buy isn't in this god forsaken state.

but anyway needed to vent there, what is the chance of killing my psp, because to many people these are machines, but to me they are like my friends. and could very well be the only ones i got left, i lost touch with the other two. at least i know i can trust my electronics to at least be there when i need them.

which is also why i don't screw with my computer, i care about it more then my own life.

There's always a risk of something going wrong when you're screwing around with a devices' firmware.

i found one that wasn't perment, i figured that was the safest option, but none of the homebrew i'm seeing is worth even the first look. isn't there like something that can enable custom music in games or something, edit textures.

all of the crap i see is a waste of time i just want something that lets me listen to my music in dissidia 012. maybe i should google a bit.

honestly i wish more games had the feature to play your own music in the background, i only have 2 or so that support it, ff13 needs that feature anything would be better then the elevator music on the game. my pet peeve about square games no mute button for the bgm on anything but dissidia.

There isn't a whole lot people do with hacked PSPs other than pirated games and emulation. If you're not interested in those, don't bother.

actually i've been seeing videos on youtube where people have changed the music in dissidia 012 and retextured the models, kind of making the game like a hack job mugen. that's the stuff i wanted to try out and the only way to get one of cloud's dlc outfits is through custom firmware. i need to find rthe dissidia editing program or some of the mods for it.

I never bothered with downgrades so I'm not sure about the realistic risks of doing that. I've always had a (permanent) cfw on my psp1004. I'm really curious about what exactly you're heading for that requires a downgrade.

There are several applications that allow listening to mp3s in-game. Truth to be told, I never bothered with these either but I know a number of them exists.

actually i just got what i want to do, in dissidia 012 there are several outfits that you can't get unless you preordered the game at gamestop and preordered another game, something called 3rd birthday. i hadn't planned on getting the game and then changed my mind several months later. so i got screwed by the system before but i found out you can get this stuff if you have custom firmware.

but every place i went to said the psp had to be downgraded, then i found some cfw that worked on the version i have already, it's not perment but i got the stuff i had been agonizing over, so i'm happy.

i like listening to my own music in games because i usually hate in game music, i can't stand songs with no words. it's my pet peeve. my music relaxes me and i like to listen to it all the time, but unless i am playing gran turismo on my psp i can't listen to my music while playing a game.

sure i can play the music from something else, but i can't stand two different noises coming from two different sources, it's not just music and games. i go crazy when i'm watch tv in the living room and someone else is talking on the phone or my dad is playing a video he got in his email.

i have to have all the sound coming from the same source or it drives me crazy.

not sure why i have this problem but i've always had it and never asked why.
