if you've ever played a mmo like world of warcraft there are are bound to be things you hated, not just about the game itself but about habits the other players had a nasty habit of doing.

i 'm not going to bother listing things i hated in conquer it would be like writing a book.

in all mmos the one glaring thing that stood out was archers in general, didn't matter if it was a player or an npc. this did not start from any mmo though my hatred of archers started when i got drakengard, the archers in that game were so blood hard to kill it was pathetic. it wasn't because they were strong or had to much health it was because they walked backward just fast enough to stay out of your reach even with a long weapon like reaper's scythe.

it got to a point that i would mount the dragon to kill off even a single archer, even if magic resilient enemies were near by.

and archer players are just as cowardly as them. rogues are right up there with archers. and so i favor warriors over everything else.

but away that's my biggest pet peeve.

pvp is second on the list. i don't like being pked sorry i had enough of that crap in conquer.

Hahaha, hunters and rogues happen to be my favorite classes. While I resect the warrior way, I much prefer shooting from afar and having my pet tank for me. You gotta have DPS, in WoW at least. Mages are cool too, but I solo a lot and therefore find hunters to be my class. Plus, one of my favorite fantasy characters is an archer.

Anyway, to answer your question, I really hate players who treat everyone like they're n00bs. It's not like they just started out at level 85 with all the best moves and sweetest armor. On a similar note, I hate being in a group with people who freak out when you die. I got kicked out of a group when my hunter died, and that was after a few nasty comments. I cannot help if the tank and healer are not doing their job.

Although I try to be sympathic with them, newbies can drive anyone nuts. Especially little kids on their big brother's account.

On the other hand, I have met a lot of respectable, polite and enjoyable players via dungeon finder that make playing with others worthwhile.

Still, the number one thing I hate about MMOs? Gnomes. I swear on the Sunwell they always come after me, even if doing so is completely inconvienent on their part.

Grinding. As an extremely bored guy with ADHD, I hate repetitive tasks.

Heh, I love grinding.

My least favorite thing about MMO's? Other people. I like to play around people but not with them. Yet I have little choice if I am to make it through some quests/dungeons/instances. When I join guilds, they always want me to... you know... participate. Blech.

Aside from that? PvP. I don't play on PvP servers if theres an option. I can't kill others even in a game (except halo, where beating someone to death is so bleeding fun) and I stink at escape.

[edit] - almost forgot! The armor! Its always so scanty for women. I feel like I'm running around in metal-bleeding-lingerie. I want to be tough, not some dinky chick waving a sword. Give me hard-core armor! Cover my midsection (cause, you know, vital organs and all that) and for heavens sake don't give me cleavage!

I wouldn't mind it so much if the men had to run around that way too. I mean, if they were at least half-naked and hot, I'd have something to enjoy too. But noooo the men get the good armor. -_-

i agree on the armor part, most of the warrior armor in rift looks like strip club armor. my warrior's last armor in wow was pretty cool looking.

I don't play MMO's anymore (okay, I've been in and out of Champions Online and Spiral Knights recently), but when I played WoW the thing that annoyed me the most was the ridiculously pro people absolutely everywhere. They knew everything, knew what they were doing, made millions of gold everyday and were horrible to lower level people. The game is just absolutely no place for anyone under 85 (or under 80, when I played it).

And I'm guessing all of you in this thread are the hardest of the hardcore at WoW

EDIT: Also I hated it in some dungeon groups, if you all die just once, everyone gets mad and then just quits straight away instead of simply manning up and trying again.

I only play WoW. Other players annoy me the most. I can't stand it when you do a dungeon and someone's acting like a plank just because your not playing as well as they think you should. Some of us play the game for fun. We're not the best players, we know that, but we're giving it our best. So give over with the bitching.

And I hate that add on thingy that some use that shows how much damage each player in the dungeon is doing. I only ever see it used as a tool to bully other players. Grrrrrr.

In WoW, my least-favorite part was trying to learn how to run instances. You had to run them as part of a group, no matter how high-level you were, and in order to learn how you had to, well, get into a group and run them. Except that if you hadn't been playing since vanilla WoW, the other members of the group (who, through a long process of self-selection, always seem to be experts at it) had no interest in [i]teaching[/i[ you, or in letting you learn. It might slow down their level-grind by a few seconds, after all, if they actually helped a lvl-14 dungeon noob run a frakking lvl-14 dungeon...

(One of the comments I see most frequently in Champions Online's Zone Chat, aside from complaints about people who clone existing comic-book characters, is the expression of surprise at how helpful the community is to noobs. Maybe it helps that the game went free-to-play only a few months ago, so a lot of us were noobs quite recently and remember what it was like to not already know how to find the Powerhouse, or where the entrance to the New Purple Gang's hideout was...)

The other thing I came to hate in a lot of games was (were?) players who get up to high level, then seem to consider it their job to ruin the game experience for low-level characters by harassing them at every turn. I still remember one run with my wife, when we were supposed to be of more-than-sufficient level for the region (a pair of mid-20s, making the run through the old Stonetalon Mountain region to the Alliance stronghold in the north). We were easily a match for the local monsters - but were stopped cold by the lvl-80 blood elf paladin who camped our bodies near the lake, and the lvl-80 tauren hunter who camped the graveyard so we couldn't even rez there. We finally logged out until they got bored and went away. (I still don't know why they felt it necessary to do that - they got no XP for killing us, and WoW doesn't let you loot the bodies of player characters.)

Then there was the time I tried to play EVE Online. Before the end of the free two-week period, I found it necessary to try to mine a particular ore, which was found in greatest abundance in systems of security level 0.5 or lower. First time I tried to mine in a 0.5 system, though, I was immediately attacked by a band of player who had decided to set up as pirates and attack the noobs (who could not have powerful ships, and probably didn't have powerful allies - it was hard to join a corporation until you were fairly strong yourself). A little investigation of the setup showed me that EVE is basically set up for the benefit of griefers, those players who get their jollies from beating up targets incapable of defending themselves.

I like Champions Online because the only PvP is in the Hero Games Arena, which is completely voluntary, and because almost every mission in the game can be run solo.

i was never very good at wow, i wasn't hardcore in the idea of [i knew the game like the back of my hand] i was hardcore in [i spent 8+hours on it daily.] i only started dungeon running when they put in the dungeon finder and i stuggled every day on my warrior. getting armor was a thing i thought was impossible. in the end i never did get my full tier set from heroics.

but i was antisocial but i was never mean if i saw someone who needed help i would help, even in rift i'm always jumping into public groups to help as much as i can even if i have other things to do.

to MotherKnowsBest

oh i know the mod your talking about "recount" i hated it too, and every group i joined seemed to have it and they spammed it often, just to put me down about my 1k less dps i was doing because i never followed a rotation, the only person i beat in damage was the healer most times not kidding.

the other thing i hated was inspect armor feature. once i had a sword on my hunter that i got from the lvl 20 something pvp vender and i went into a pvp battleground and one person was inspecting my armor and decided to annouce to the whole raid that i had an underleveled sword. i was thinking [well it's not like hunters melee that much] everyone in the raid said that we were going to lose just because of my sword, so i put it in my bag and ran the battleground with my gun alone and i helped no one but myself that time.

that claymore had senimental value to me because it looked like hymir's finger from drakengard my favorite sword in the game. after a while it was put in my bank and never touched again to save my sanity.

My least favorite thing in an MMO is that none of them will ever be EQ pre-expansions =P

Not me at least. I've never played WoW, mostly because I don't like to shell out cash monthly for a game. I can't even afford a 360, no way I'm going to invest in something I'll rotate out of in a coupla months.

Though if any of you ever need to know good free MMO's, hit me up. I could give you a list, and help you with starter stuff on a lot of 'em. Won't run through a darn thing, but I could at least equip ya. :)

One thing that really bugs me is how many people use homophobic and ableist insults on WoW. Racist insults are not tolerated, but those are. It's a double standard.

I've never played WoW. But I know enough about it to stay clear.

My brief history of playing online reminds me of Playground rules. Especially when playing Football in school.

The one and only desire to win, by flying through all the loopholes and taking no prisoners.

IRL, I was in possession of a ball for about 20 seconds, before someone with gritted teeth ran towards me and pushed me over, (after not being able to tackle me) just to take control of it.

The gaming world is more or less the same.

Playing TF2, and I kill someone once before moving on. They had the need to hunt me down and kill me 10 times. 8O

No life or what? Surely, these people are insecure.

WoW is quite terrifying. People have killed themselves or others over it 8O
